Video quality issues on Satellite 91 since Satellite moved from 82 to 91

Has anyone noticed video quality on satellite 91 with sports etc having any of these issues since everything moving to just the one satellite 91. I have experienced a couple of these just wondering if others do as well.

  • Pixelation and Jitter on HD Channels: Many users report that HD channels, particularly during live sports or action-heavy scenes, suffer from noticeable pixelation, stuttering, and a "jittery" or choppy picture. This is a direct sign of aggressive video compression.
  • Worse Picture Quality on HD than SD: The very problem you're experiencing is a frequent complaint. Subscribers note that some SD channels, despite their lower resolution, appear "cleaner" and more stable than their HD counterparts, which are plagued by artifacts.
  • Satellite Signal Strength Discrepancies: Users often report that their signal strength on satellite 91 is strong, while satellite 82 is weak or nonexistent. This is a critical issue because Bell TV's HD service requires both satellites for a complete channel lineup. The relocation of channels to 91 seems to have exacerbated this problem for many.

I found the list of concerns above on another site, the SD channels seem more clearer and crisp to me, so we are watching some of those right now. The TSN sports channels in SD seem clear to us comparable to the HD channels. I have the 9400 receiver which is 9 years old now so maybe we are noticing a older receiver issues as well.

The signals from the 82 satellite have slowly been dropping off since June.

Today, the 82 satellite is no longer on the receivers. If you do a System Info check (MENU, 6, 1, 3), you will.see it's gone.

If you do a CHECK SWITCH test, all you will see now is the 91 satellite.

Thanks @BigTuna I was aware of 82 satellite, My issues may lie with my aging 9400. My signal strength is 100% on some channels, I tweaked it already.

Has anyone noticed any picture quality changes in HD or SD channels since the move to just one satellite, mine seems a bit different, HD seemed a bit darker SD seemed sharper, I chatted with Bell today, they did some tweak on there end, seems different will post if it worked

I confirmed that for myself today. 82 is gone and everything is on 91. I have 95% signal strength, and no issues with pixilation or audio drop out.

Is bell going to put another sat up

Good Day.

Thank you for your question. Information such as this is not posted nor shared by Bell on this website.

The two satellites are owned and operated by Telesat Canada. Bell's uplink site is located in North York, Toronto, Ontario. Bell does not own either of these satellites.

As such, we are unable to answer your question at this time.

Take care.

I have seen issues with boxes , TSN , pixalation issue . I wonder if  one sat these problems connected . Sat box .i can imagine using one sat orbiting earth is a lot . Cause it looks like problem is not using two satellites . But one using only .

Thanks for your post. I have been running tests on my own two Satellite TV installations in separate locations. 9500 receivers in both locations. Satellite 82 is no longer available and the receiver will not lock on the signal. Satellite 91 locks on signal and has a strength of 95 to 98%. No sign of artifacts or pixilation. Video quality is excellent. I am in midwestern Ontario, near Lake Huron. You may be correct that you have a receiver issue or a perhaps cable or dish issue.
