What Dolby sound is supported by the Fibe TV Box?

I am looking to upgrade our sound bar and want to know what dolby types are supported by the Android 4k online recording tv box.

I have a standard non smart Samsung tv with no sound outputs, just two HDMI inputs.  I use Bluetooth for my current connections to an older Samsung sound bar - it has no HDMI passthrough, but that is also an option I am thinking about.  This sound bar shows as being supported for basic Dolby digital and digital plus, not the DTS that the sound bar actually supports.

My decisions will depend upon what is available for this box, or an alternative is to go to a NVidia android box and run the fibe tv app at home connected to my tv and sound bar via either HDMI or Bluetooth for sound.

As well as your experiences with quality.

Any help on this is appreciated

Hey there @Retiredandbored,

Thanks very much for reaching out, and great question 🙂

The Fibe TV Box (7802) supports Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital+ and Dolby Atmos. You can also connect the receiver to Bluetooth.

Let the Community know how everything goes with your new set up, or if you have any other questions.

Thanks @BellPatricia

Couldn't find on the support pages any standards so glad I could get it here. A link @BellPatricia to any document that describes the supported standards would be beneficial.

Guess my next question with this clarification is:

Have people had successful experience with Bluetooth connection to a Dolby Atmos soundbar and what products did you use?

I don't currently have a tv with earc or HDMI arc outputs so that usot an option.

I am a neophyte when it comes to home theatre sound systems and as I describe myself I am retired and somewhat bored and don't do theaters anymore so are looking first to build better home theatre sound and eventually will upgrade our TV.

Thanks all for any ideas.

Update. Dolby Atmos over Bluetooth is available only to Dolby Atmos on headphones.

In terms of a home theatre or sound bars you have to have an archdmi comparable system and tv. So I will wait until I upgrade my TV for now. I can get basic 2.1 stereo Dolby. Also learned that almost no broadcasters support Dolby dts as next to no media was ever produced. The only Dolby supported over Bluetooth is over headphones and basic 2.1 surround. Oh well. By the time I upgrade my TV who knows what standards will be out there.

I generally don't upgrade media equipment until it dies. I was hopping to get improved sound as I was going to move my existing soundbar to an older Sony.

Have you tried an optical connection from the receiver to your power bar I looked at the back of my VIP5662W

Good suggestion. Unfortunately my tv is older and am learning that I generally only have basic 3vd sound with vmbaxksic emulated equipment.

Thanks for the response
