Why does picture go to white screen after turning tv on?

Why does the picture with Bell Fibe TV keeping going to a white screen every time I turn the tv on?

It does this on every tv with the cable box, it’s not a tv issue.

I can see the picture for a few seconds after turning on and then it goes to white with only audio. With the white screen, I can’t change the channel or access the menu.

If I unplug the router and cable box, I’m then able to watch tv / the white screen doesn’t appear. However if I turn the tv off and on again after that, the white screen returns.

Any help would be appreciated!

Can you please provide us with more details as per our questions in the thread above?
In the meantime, we recommend that you reboot your equipment, and check all of your wires to ensure they are secure and undamaged. If possible, please try a different HDMI cord/port on your TV set as well.
We hope to hear back from you about how everything is going.

Which TV receiver and modem do you have?

Is this affecting any other recordings that you've scheduled since then? Also, have you noticed this occur during the live feed at all?

We recommend unplugging your modem and the TV receiver for about one minute each in order to reboot all equipment, and then check again to see if the screen is still white in the recording of Law and Order SVU.

  • Which TV receiver/modem are you using?
  • Is this affecting more than one receiver in your home?
  • How is your receiver connected to the modem (via Wi-Fi or Ethernet)?
  • Do you have any third party equipment plugged in between the receiver and your TV set?

I have a problem with some of the recordings on my PVR (cloud based).  All I get is a white screen  that sometimes will change to pixelated video or the video will stop and start.  This program is recorded 5 days a week and at the same time each day.

This only happens on OneTV (Ch 1606) and has happened at least once a week.  I have rebooted the modem and both TV boxes and it still occurs.

The recording is there and is fine as it is perfect on my computer or when I cast the episode using my phone, it's just the TV box that causes the problem and it happens on both TV's.

It happens on Eastenders on 1606.  I have never checked the live feed but I will try and do this.  I set the recording time for longer than the show and the show after also has a white screen.  Checking more closely some of the audio is missing.

I don't normally record anything else at this time of the day but I have set up to record Mastecheff Canada on 1604 at the same time to check when it happens again

recorded CTYHT Thu March 14 800pm L&O SVU. Son watched it Fri March 15 945pm. I tried watch it Sat mar 16 100pm, the recording is a white screen from beginning to end. I rebooted the bell receiver, same issue. I can watch this recording on by android phone bell fibe app no problem.  Is there a fix for this?

You can try to cast to the TV for now.

TV Receiver: ARRIS Model VIP7802 

Yes, this has now affected another recording, Tracker, recorded channel 1201 CTVOH SUN 3-17 8:59PM, tried to watch 3-21 - white screen. The same issue occurs when I try to view it on my 2nd TV with a different TV Receiver (same model). It played without any issues on the Bell Fibe phone app.

We are able to watch many other recordings without any issues. We also watched the PVR series recording of the following week's 3-21 Law and Order SVU without any issues.
99% of all TV we watch is from the PVR, so we have not yet noticed this occur during a live feed.

Yes, we unplugged the modem and the TV receiver for about one minute and rebooted all equipment. The screen was still white in the recording of Law and Order SVU and also on the newer recording TRACKER.

Is this a known issue awaiting a fix?

Yes. It happened again April 4 1130am when I tried to watch a recording of Tracker 1201 CTVOH SUN 3-31 8:59 pm. Same white screen as previously reported for the entire recording.
I rebooted the TV receiver, same issue. It played without any issues on the Bell Fibe phone app.

Recently while watching tv with my 2502 receiver, the screen would go blank to a white screen, but you can hear the audio. Then none of the controls on the remote would work. We’d have to reset the receiver manually for it to start working. Then it would happen randomly a few hours later. This is happening on 2 TVs that both have 2502 receivers (the main tv with the PVR terminal is fine). I’ve done self repair through the app and it hasn’t helped. Has this happened to anyone? Do I have to bring the receivers back to bell? I’ve had them for about 7 years.
