What is this?
I got an email on Feb 6th saying my bills due.
The invoice says it's due by Feb16?
10 days to pay my bill? Now I'm late. Hope I don't get charged interest.
What the heck? Aren't most bills due like 30 days after you receive them? Very silly you send an invoice and want the money in 10 days.
Please fix.

I don't know if it is happening to everyone, but I find it extremely ridiculous the payment delay required following the reception of my bill online.
I received my bill by email Today, June 9th, that it must be paid by June 18th. That gives me 7 days to pay since it takes almost two for them to receive through an online bank payment.
It doesn't make any sense. Especially, with digital services, we pay a month ahead.
Already, most credit card companies give you almost 21 days to pay, which is already pretty quick.
Plus, I receive my bill online, imagine by mail and if I paid by check 😱

Thanks for your concern. The core issue is the Canadian banking system, which requires 3-5 days to process a payment. Please also check your billing date. That is the key date when the clock starts, not when you receive the bill. Your payment is due 30 days from the billing date.

Good Day & Welcome
Yes, you are absolutely correct! Please check the billing date on your MyBell account!
Bell must receive your processed payment within 30 days after your due date. How you pay it & & when you pay it are factors that you must consider when paying your bill!
Your account is credited when Bell receives the funds from your financial institution.
Your account is overdue if your bill payment has not been received & credited to your account within 30 days after the billing date on your bill.
This is you due date.
Payments made after the due date are accepted but may not be reflected on your next bill. Late payment fees may apply for payments received after 30 days from the billing date. Bell updates payment information on their system once they receive the funds from your financial institution, which can take varying amounts of time. When & how you pay your monthly bill are within your circle of influence & are not predetermined & set out by Bell.
This timeline can vary from 1 - 18 days. The chart I have included in this reply is only a reference point for you to use. It is intended to allow you sufficient time to pay your bill by the due date.
How long does it take for my Bell payment to be processed?
Should you require further assistance in terms when your bill is due & your billing date, you may need to contact Bell Customer Service Billing & Orders: - 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or #611 from any Bell mobile device.
If we can be of assistance in answering any further billing questions you might have, please let us know.
Thank you for posting your question.
Take care.

This keeps happening to me. Get my emailed bill on July 7th. Says Payment is due July 16th.
Then I get threatening emails/texts saying I haven't paid my bill. Most people have 30 days to pay a bill. Give me some time.

Thanks for your concern. You don’t say when you start receiving the emails from Bell. Please look at your bill on the MyBell web page to see the actual due date is. Time your payment to clear several days before that, keeping in mind that payment can take several days to clear your account. This is an issue with the Canadian banking system, not a Bell issue. Payment after the due date may not be reflected on your next bill, so keep your account in good standing by meeting the due date.

my issue is I get an email my bill is ready. then I need to pay it in 9 days and bell starts sending me messages/emails about my bill being overdue. Give people some time. It doesn't take a bank 21 days to make a payment. It's ridiculous. Never ever have I had to pay a bill in 9 days. Who starts chasing people down for money after 9 days? What are we, loan sharks?

As I suggested, please confirm your bill date on the My Bell web page as well as your actual due date. Don't depend on the e-mail notice as beginning your payment period. There can be lag time between when the fill is dated and when your e-mail is sent. Unfortunately the Canadian banking system is not particularly accommodating to late payments. If you make a payment on your due date, it takes three days or more to be received by Bell. That is, as I said, a banking system issue. If you made a late payment at one time, you may well have arrears. Again check your bill balance on the MyBell web site.
I have learned from hard and expensive experience to treat bills as payable when they arrive and not pay them close to the end of the grace period. It can take work and time to arrive at that place, but it's a good financial practice and can help your credit rating, too.

Thanks for the information. If you look at the bottom of page 2 of your bill, you will see that you have 30 days to pay. Bell would really like you to pay earlier, which is why that earlier date is on there, but the terms and conditions of your agreement with Bell say you have 30 days from your billing date. It's a form of encouragement to pay your bill on time. Other providers use the same strategy. Just make sure you have no outstanding balance on your bill after your payment in full. Once your payment has been received, check to make your your balance is zero.

Good Day @Chris7
As @dks mentioned to you in his earlier replies, please check the billing date on your MyBell account.
- "You have 30-days from this date for Bell to receive the funds in order to credit your account.
- 30-days from your billing date is your due date. Your account is credited immediately when Bell receives the funds from your financial institution.
- Your account is overdue if your bill payment has not been received & credited to your account within 30 days after the billing date on your bill.
- Bell updates payment information on their system once they receive the funds from your financial institution, which can take varying amounts of time.
None of this should come as a surprise to any of us. Nothing has changed and it is the same for all of us.
When & how you pay your monthly bill are well within your circle of influence to control & are not predetermined & set out by Bell.
I would prefer to be notified by any supplier in advance that I might miss a payment rather than finding out after the fact that my payment was late, my account is in arrears & I am required to pay a late fee.
I will leave these final words with you to ponder on:
- How, when & where you pay your bill is a decision that only you can make.
- You do have 30-days from your billing date for Bell to receive your payment and credit your account.
Thank you for posting your question.
Take care.

Chris, here is what I do. My bill date is the 5th. The "please pay by" date is usually around the 19th however, I know I have 30 days to pay it, so I make sure payment is made and received by Bell by the 4th of the next month, (the day before my next bill). I do get a reminder my bill is overdue, but as long as I pay it by the 4th it falls within the 30 days. My payment has always been reflected on that next bill without late fees/ interest and I've never gotten a late payment on my credit report.
My other utility bills show a due date and that is THE date it is due. If it is not received by that actual date then it's overdue and is subject to a late payment fee or interest. Bell's practice is confusing to customers. If customers have 30 days to pay it, then make the actual due date 30 days from the date of the bill and leave it at that. After that, it's late, and it won't be reflected until your next bill.
