Call Waiting - Message notification not working

This forum doesn't look super-active, but here goes. I dread having to call in to Bell!

Bell recently managed to mistakenly disconnect my services, and my voicemail service has now re-set various options. Have so far been able to restore the number of rings, which it had pushed to two, but can find no way to turn the message waiting indicator back on. (For two weeks, I had Bell picking up calls after two rings and not letting me know there was a message 8-0.) Any instructions I've found say choose 4-Personal options and then 1. I can also see this on two different pdf manuals. But when I press 4, the first option mentioned is 2-Administrative Options, and if I press "1", it tells me it's not a valid choice. Help! 😉

I also have Call Answer, and am not getting any Message Waiting Indicators (visual or dial tone). I would appreciate some direct help. I recently had a Bell technician here, who said he believed Home Phone on Fibe does not include notifications.

I had to switch over 2 weeks ago to fibre optics from copper and wire.  The tech had challenges but got everything working including my home phone.  Not thrilled that my home phone is now through fiber but it is what it is.  My phone was ringing for a long period of time without going to call answer.  *94 does not work with fibe.  I had to call Bell to fix the number of rings.  Pain in my ..... My old landline use to do a fast beep if I have a voicemail plus it displayed message waiting on my Panasonic Handsets and it flashed red.  It is not doing this anymore and I don't have a clue how to fix this so I know if there is a message.

I am really frustrated and did not receive any answer to my previous post.  I had called Bell who was useless and just told me to log into my Bell to find a answer.  Well there are no answers here.  My previous post which was not answered by anyone.

Thank you for your question. Yes, Call Answer does work with fibre.

I suggest you review the steps for setting up Call Answer here to make sure your service is working. There other tips on that page, as well.

To pick up a message, dial *98. You will be prompted for your password and you can collect your messages.

*94 changes the number of rings before Call Answer picks up. You can read more information on feature controls here .

Just letting the forum know that as of this date I was experiencing this issue with my landline. About 3 weeks ago my phone stopped telling me I had new voicemails awaiting retrieval.

This morning I spent about an hour on the phone with a Bell tech. After a few steps he was working through on his troubleshooting script, he got it working. One thing he did was reboot my modem (from his end). After that, I think he changed some parameter of my phone settings and it's working.

As far as I can tell, if you have this problem (no New Voicemail indicator), you will need Bell tech support to correct it. It would perhaps be nice if you could do this through a *98 menu; the fact that you cannot tells me that the New Voicemail indication is never supposed to be turned off. If it goes off, it's due to a bug in the Bell voicemail system.
