Has your Home phone line been converted to fibre or is it still on copper? If you are on fibre, try using the Virtual repair tool. If you are still on copper you will need to contact Bell repair service. I have included the contact information at the bottom of this reply.

Virtual repair will check if the Bell hardware and network outside your home are working, as well as reboot and optimize the settings of the equipment inside your home. If a technician visit is required, the tool will help you book a repair appointment.

To report a service issue, call 6-1-1 from any Bell landline phone or #6-1-1 from any Bell mobile phone.

Take care

Hi there @GM5. Welcome to the Bell Community. Thanks for trying out the Virtual Repair tool!

The Community will need a bit more information in order to help.

  • What type of noise do you hear on the line (static, humming, busy tone)?
  • How often is this happening?
  • Do you have multiple phones in your home, and is this affecting all of them?
  • Can you check all of the wires to make sure they are secure and intact?

Looking forward to your reply.

My phone will ring and when I pick it up there is no one on the phone and when I hang up then it displays check phone line. I find out that a family member or friend was trying to call and they say it goes straight to our answering machine. So I have to do the virtual repair again so I can use my home phone. It happens everyday. I only have the base phone plugged into the back of the Modem and I have 3 cordless phones. Everything is connected properly. I am not sure if it is the phone I have and it is not compatible with the speed I have.

Also my niece said when she tried to call us it sounded like a fax machine noise on her end and then it went to our answering machine.

Hi there @GM5, thank you for the additional information.

We want to dig into this a bit deeper, and have sent you a private message. Please check your Messages within your profile avatar in the top right corner.

Since we had to get an upgrade to bell fibe our home phone hardly works. Not only do we get dropped calls on our phone but people have trouble hearing us.  Volume is up but it is just wrrible trying g to hear or get a good call reception.

what are we doing wrong?  So angry right now.

Hi @Believeitornot,

Welcome to the Bell Community, and thank you for posting 🙂

To start, we recommend trying out the different troubleshooting tips in the thread above.

If you continue to have any the Community would just need a bit more information in order to help.

  • Is there an error message on the modem when the call drops?
  • Do you experience an issue with Internet at the same time?
  • Does it happen when you make calls, or when you receive them?
  • Is this affecting multiple numbers, or just a certain one?
  • Is there any noise on the line preventing others from hearing you, or does the volume just sound low to them?

We hope to hear back from you soon.

My my phone it keeps saying line in use and I even unplugged everything and plugged back in and I’m still getting the same thing! I just got my home phone on Thursday and it’s now not working ! Can anyone help?

Have you tried plugging the phone directly in to the back of the modem to see if you have dial tone on the green line one phone jack? If you do not have dial tone, try the following

Reboot your modem, by unplugging it from the power source. Wait 45 seconds & plug the modem back in. It will take 5-7 minutes to reconnect to Bell. Once it connects & you see the Ok symbol, try your phone.

If after completing this & it is still not working please contact Bell Customer Service Tech support for Home phone at: 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or dial #611 from any Bell mobile device

Bell Tech support may need to do a software update to reactivate

Take care.

My landline has no dial tone. How do I get a service person out here to fix it? It is not inside the house!

Message saying Check line. Cannot call or receive calls.

Hi there @GiClo04
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
We wanted to check in to see if you're still experiencing issues with your phone line and had a moment to review the thread and try the troubleshooting steps / suggestions. If so, can you please share what you've attempted?
Looking forward to hearing back.

Hi, problem solved. Issue was copper line at exterior box entry! Vandalism, wind damage? Had to endure problem for 3+ days as I had previously signed on to Bell Fibe. Had to rely on cell phone with limited minutes plan but could obviously not be reached on home phone. A very inconvenient
situation after a few days’ absence because of a death in the family.

Thanks!
