Can I keep my Bell email address if I cancel my service?

We have had sympatico.ca e-mail addresses for decades and Bell Mobility cell phones for almost as long.

BUT I was told by Bell that our sympatico e-mail addresses would be lost if we drop our Bell land-line, which doesn't make any sense at all as we now ONLY ever access our sympatico e-mail from our cell phones.

Is there not some way to associate our sympatico e-mail addresses with our Bell Mobility services rather than our unneeded land-line?

I believe you'd need a 'mobile internet' device and plan in order to keep your Bell email address.

Devices: https://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Mobile-Internet-Devices-listing

Plans: https://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Cell_phone_plans/Turbo-Stick-and-Turbo-Hub-data-plans

We went with the Alcatel stick and basic 100mb/month flex plan.

This is why I switched years ago to a free Gmail account and stopped using free provided ISP e-mail accounts. Now I can switch to whatever ISP I like, with no interruption to my e-mail services and no need to change all my various accounts and update my e-mail addresses for them.

I recently cancelled my bell services as I was paying too much  My husband has signed up for tv, internet and phone.  I am still working with the management team to correct my bill, however I have not lost my bell email which I  did not realize would happen.  This is my only email address which my contacts have.  I still have a bell mobility account associated with my bell profile.  How can I access my email?  The contact that I was dealing with at the bell management team was going to email me and now I don't even have his contact information.

You should not loose your email account as long as you maintain your service with data on your mobile device and / or have an Internet account linked to it. I would suggest that your merge your billing account with TV, Internet & phone in to one account & then set the the 4 services, Fibe TV, Internet, Home phone & Mobility up under your existing MyBell account. Once this is completed, you can choose to use One Bill on MyBell  for all of your bill payments, etc.

How are you accessing your email on your mobile device now? There any number of different methods, devices, apps & browser that can be used to access your Bell email. Your mobile device manufacturer will have included one as well. E.g. Apple - iPhone > Mail; Samsung - Email, etc.

You can also access your email from any web browser, E.g. Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Apple Safari, etc. To access your Bell web mail, open up any browser:

  1. Go to www.bell.net or bell.ca/webmail.
  2. Enter your Bell email address and password.
  3. Click Log in.

When you're done using Bell email, click your name in the top right corner of the window and choose Log out, or simply close your web browser. You'll be signed out automatically if you leave your Bell email idle for a period of time, unless you checked the Keep me signed in option.

Hopefully, the information I have provided will be of assistance to you.

Take care.

I am moving into a condo building that has Roger’s as the internet service provider. Is there any way that one could work around to keep the Bell (sympatico) address?

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

You can only keep your email account as long as you maintain your Bell service with data on a mobile device and / or have an Internet account linked to it.

Bell use to offer to transfer emails from one Bell account to another Bell account if both parties agreed to the transfer. This is no longer available since Bell decided to stop providing email addresses.

If you have a Bell email address, you are able to continue to use it as long as it is on an active account. Eg. Internet, Mobility. If you delete it or wish to change it to another email address or move it to another account, this can not be done. You can no longer add a new Bell email address.

I do not know of any method of transferring an email address from one account to another today. If the account is yours and it is active, it can be moved to a different physical residence just as long as it is still attached to the same Bell Internet or mobility account.

If you need a new email address you would need to obtain one from an outside supplier such as Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Mail, etc.

Thank you for posting your question on the Bell Community Forum.

Take care.

I would like to thank this community for supporting a migration from a linkkey to the wifiand hotspot of a smart phone but I have not totally gotten there yet personally. I need to know from you guys if it is possible to addon a webmail account to simply mobility or if it is exclusive to the internet account. You knowledge is extremely critical to me as it will be the webmail I will choose over mobility should such a case arise. Thanks I will await your replies.

Pardon my obselete question. My true interest laid in having my bell email which I had before resuscitated from my old internet account but added to my mobility account currently active. So, I'm not a new customer to bell webmail but someone trying to get at an old email address to now addon to a mobility account if it is possible. Thanks for bearing with me. I can now await your replies.

Good Day.

Bell no longer provides email addresses. If you need a new email address you would need to obtain one from an outside supplier such as Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Mail, etc.

If you have an existing Bell email address, you are able to continue to use it as long as it is maintained on an active account. You will need to maintain a Bell Internet account or a Bell Mobility data device, such as a Turbo Hub, Turbo Stick or MiFi on a continuous basis.

If you delete it or wish to change it to another email address or move it to another account, this can not be done. You can no longer add a new Bell email address.

If you cancelled your Internet account & did not have an active mobility data account or related service attached at the time, then your Bell webmail email account would have been closed & can not be reopened & activated.

How can Bell cancel the Sympatico address right after I cancelled the Bell internet? We have been with Bell for 30 years. We still have a landline and TV package from Bell. We had to change internet services as bell was only able to provide 5Mbps as we live in the country. We switched to a privider that gave us 100Mbps. I would stay with Bell but it is just not an option. Should Bell not give us a grace period to at least retrieve some of my emails after we cancelled the service? It has been hard to change my email address at institutions because they want to verify it is me and send an email to my Sympatico, which I cannot access. What is the solution?

Good Day.

I wish I could help you, but I can not. Bell has not provided email addresses in almost two years.

If you cancelled your Internet account & did not have an active mobility data account or related service attached at the time, then your Bell webmail email account would have been closed & can not be reopened & activated. Once it is closed, there is no method to retrieve any of the information you may have stored on Bell's webmail server.

If you have an existing Bell email address, you are able to continue to use it as long as it is maintained on an active Bell Internet account or a Bell Mobility data device, such as a Turbo Hub, Turbo Stick or MiFi on a continuous basis.

We're planning some extensive traveling over the next few months and dont see any point in maintaining our home services.  However, we're concerned about our email.

Our cellphones are currently with Bell.  If we maintain our cellular service but cancel the rest, will we still have out email accounts?

Hi @Sureshot

Welcome to the Bell Community and thanks for posting 🙂

To maintain your Bell email account you will need a Bell Home Internet account or a Bell Mobility data device, such as a Turbo Hub, Turbo Stick or MiFi.

If you are travelling, instead of cancelling you may also consider a Temporary Suspension of your service so that you can still access your Bell email account. For more information on suspending your service check out this thread: Can I suspend or put my service on hold?Opens in a new tab or window

Good Day.

To answer your question, Yes.  "Just as long as: you have an existing Bell email address & as long as it is maintained on an active Bell Internet account or a Bell Mobility data device, such as a Turbo Hub, Turbo Stick or MiFi on a continuous basis."

If you cancel your Internet account & you do not have an active mobility data account or related service attached at the time, then your Bell webmail email account would be closed & can not be reopened & activated. Once it is closed, there is no method to retrieve any of the information you may have stored on Bell's webmail server.

As an alternative,@BellPatricia mentioned suspending or putting your services on hold. You would be able to do this for a period  of up to 6 months at a time. There is a one time charge of $49 to do so.

In the long run, this may be a more viable & economical option for you to consider.

Please refer to the following web link for temporary suspension details.

Hello,

Recently cancelled my home and internet services but maintained my mobility account. I had a sympatico email that is now gone. The Bell employee did not offer to transfer the email to my mobilty account or to my wife’s Bell home account. How can I recover my email account as I’ve had it for nearly 20 years???
