Established PPoE but TV not working

I just went through setting up PPoE for my Linksys Velop system functionality, which hasn't improved performance noticeably but now the IPTV is not working. 

Any help is appreciated.

If I am not mistaken it needs a different VLAN, I think 34, on WAN side.

I have been a bell customer for less than a week and so far the experience has been a nightmare. The nonexistant bridge functionality combined with useless and difficult to access IT support and the need to have a data scientist degree to navigate the PPoE and Vlan setting to get Bell entertainment is ridiculous and frankly infuriating. Bell should be paying me and all these other users of their product who have identified these issues compensation payments for the time spent moving their product out of Beta stage. Does Bell not think that in today's day there is no need to provide the actual service we've paid for, and that people are not going to see through what is either blatant misleading marketing or incompetent IT development. Both are inexcusable. I have wasted many hours now trying to configure my new HH400O SYSTEM with my Linksys Velop router only to have problems with the IPTV and nominally higher (but nowhere near what I pay for) speeds.

Bell had better step up with a solution soon or the clients they have tricked into switching providers will be leaving faster than they came and repeating the issues to anyone they know.

 

There's no need to use PPPOE or VLAN unless you are planning on using your own equipment. Once you use your own equipment, there are various locations on the internet that provide support to get it working.

Bell fully supports their own equipment. If aftermarket equipment does not function properly, the equipment manufacturer might be another path to find a solution.

The same third party equipment worked perfectly and only stopped working when we transitioned from your competitors services to Bell. The problem isn't the configuration of my third party system. I have contacted the third party system provider and the issue is not with them, it is with Bell's modem configuration. The pod product offered by Bell is wifi based and cannot meet our requirements, as a result we have no option but to use a third party solution. In addition,  I would like to note that I disclosed the details of our mesh router system prior to making the switch and was assured the system was compatible by both the Bell sales person and your technical support.  A quick read of the forum clearly outlines the issue with Bell's offering and a number of viable suggestions for Bell to correct the problem. Continuing to gaslight your customers by referring them externally when the problem is with the Bell modem is unacceptable.

If Bell has made the decision to design their system so that it is only compatible with their own pod system,  that's absolutely fine. However,  Bell needs to admit that openly so customers can make properly informed decisions about whether to use their services.

As my signature explains, I am a regular customer. I do not work for Bell, so it's not "mine".

I have third party solutions that worked fine with the bell home hub, but they did require a bit of configuration. I have since removed the bell home hub and solely use my own equipment, which is also working well.

I have a Microtik RB5009 coming at some point this week, to play around with.

For the velop Mesh system, I would start with a single unit and connect that unit directly to the home hub with an ethernet cable. I see no reason why it would not come online. Here is a post from a user who connected his Velop without any issues to the home hub 3000: velop 

Would need some more information on how you have these hooked up in order to figure out what the issue is.

My current setup is functioning utilizing the pppoe bypass and the advanced DMZ config on the modem. Unfortunately the IPTV is not functioning. I'm not sure what to change in either the router settings or the modem settings to allow the IPTV to pass through. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know you will need to tag VLAN 34 on the WAN of the device connected to the home hub that performs the routing for your LAN network.

It should already be tagged for VLAN 35, which provides internet services.

Just so I am understanding your setup: You are using PPPOE on your router, with the WAN side of the router connected directly to the home hub.

Yes that's correct. Thanks I'll try and putting the VLAN identifier and see if that works. There's no VLAN number currently in use for the pppoe. I tried to sort that out with Bell Technical and they couldn't decide if it was needed. It seems to have worked without it except for the TV. I'll let you know. Thanks again

okay I have a slightly different setup as I completely bypassed my home hub 3000 and have the SFP GPON directly plugged into my router.

For me, without VLAN 35 I can not establish an internet connection, just a PPPOE connection.

Since you are using ADMZ it might be somewhat different.

Any idea how to get the IPTV to function using Advanced DMZ?
