Home Hub 4000 - When disabling WiFi, it turns back on after reboot. Help!

Is there any way to stop WiFi from enabling itself upon reboot. This is becoming very annoying and is causing me wifi issues.

Hello!

I recently bought new wifi routers to get a better coverage in my house. I turned off the wifi on the Home Hub 3000 from the web interface and named my new SSID the same name the Bell one had. The thing is, every few days the HH3000 turns the wifi back on, and when I try to disable it, I get an error "The settings were not saved. Please try again." I then fiddle around until it works. Though today it does not seem to be working. Any idea how to turn the wifi off once and for all and what causes the settings not to be saved?

Thanks!

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Your Home Hub 3000 is continuously connecting to the Bell network & is doing a reset. If you are looking to get better coverage throughout your home, I can on suggest adding Bell Wi-Fi Pods. If you add Wi-Fi Pods, this will require your Wi-Fi to be turned on

There is no method or setting in the Bell HH3000 that will allow you to entirely turn your Wi-Fi off. Your HH3000 is used for other Bell services, E.g. Fibe TV, Smart Home, etc.

The only Wi-Fi setting that can be changed is to turn off your Whole Home Wi-Fi in the modem settings.

What are Wi-Fi pods and how do I use them?

Hi! Indeed I knew and understand that HH3000 is always emitting wifi, I am okay with that. The thing is that I’n trying to turn off « Whole Home Wi-Fi » so my regular devices won’t connect to my HomeHub. It shouldn’t turn itself back on, should it?

After troubleshooting devices disappearing on my network.

I have noticed that when I turn off home optimization in order to seperate my network and saving the setting.

The next morning the setting will have changed back to optimize on. When this happens some older devices are no longer available on the overall network.

Any suggestions as to how to keep the optimization mode set to on or off?

This is unfortunately a bug in the firmware. Every time the modem reboots, including after remote firmware updates and power outages, it will grab a default configuration that enables Whole Home WiFi....

Hopefully they can fix this bug in the near future, especially since there's no way to actually save your configuration locally so you can at least reload all your settings...

yes, thanks for your input.

looks like it doesn't save changes at all or at least reloads original when you log out.

been trying to catch this one for a while. at least i've got a workaround now.

thanks

My Bell modem automatically turns whole home wifi on repeatedly.  I don't have any pods so the wifi connection gets worse. I have to turn it off for better signal.  Any way to permanently turn this off?

My WiFi service is excellent, until the hub automatically turns on Whole Home Wi-Fi.  I turn it off but it comes back on by itself.  I know because my Wifi signal goes to garbage everytime.  I do not have any pods and I know you're trying to sell me some but this is dirty. How do I turn it off permanently?

Good Day.

You cannot turn it off permanently. There is no method or setting in a Bell modem that will allow you to entirely turn your Wi-Fi off. Your Bell modem is configured to be used with other Bell services, E.g. Fibe TV, Home phone, Smart Home, etc.

Instructions to: Turn Whole Home Wi-Fi Off

  1. Clicking on http://192.168.2.1/ .
  2. Then enter the password found on the back of your modem, if you have not changed it.
  3. Select > Manage my Wi-Fi.
  4. Select > Turn off Whole Home Wi-Fi.
  5. Select > Save.
  6. A warning will pop up on your screen. Select > Yes
  7. Log off & then log back in to your modem.

Your Bell Home Hub modem is continuously connecting to the Bell network & is doing a reset. Every time the modem reboots, including after remote firmware updates and power outages, it will always connect to the default configuration. It will turn your Whole Home Wi-Fi back on.

I do not work for Bell, and I am not trying to sell you any Bell Wi-Fi pods. If you are looking to get better coverage throughout your home, I can only suggest adding Bell Wi-Fi Pods.

If you choose to add Wi-Fi Pods, this will require your Wi-Fi to be turned on.
