New Webmail - Format and Feature Issues

I am trying to get used to the new email format. I love some of the changes but am having difficulty with others.

When I click on the square box next to the subject line when I first open my email link it now automatically opens to the email. In the past, I could click on the square box for several emails(they wouldn't automatically open again) and I could move them all at once to a select file folder. Now I have to move each one individually which is very time consuming. Is there a step I am missing or is this just the new way and if it is can this be addressed in an update?

I also find the font size smaller than before. I am not sure if it is because of the font size or if the colour was changed on the font but it is now hard to differentiate between unopened emails and opened emails. Is there some way I can change the colour of the font and the size? I have looked into my email settings as well as my browser settings but I couldn't see anything.

I'll be typing in email body and the cursor will disappear, I have to left-click with the mouse to bring it back.  Sometimes it will jump down to the bottom of the page.  I'm in Firefox as the browser.  My computer does not show this behaviour with any other program.  This is intermittent, not happening all the time.  The effect reminds me of things that happen when a slow computer runs low on memory, almost like a "typing latency issue" but that isn't case with the computer I'm using.

 

 

I do like some of the features of the new version, but am very frustrated by weird cursor behavior when you hit backspace to correct a typo. The cursor sometimes behaves itself, sometimes jumps to the next line and sometimes seems to disappear altogether. Have not seen this behavior on any other site or app.  Where did this come from? Ideas?

When I search for a past Email on my computer that I know it exists I cannot find it. When I search for the past Email with my smart phone it finds it no problem.

It worked just fine with the previous version of Bell mail.

With the new Sympatico webmail interface, when I try to write an email in the pop-up screen, there is a recurring, terrible lag (about 5 seconds or more) when trying to type. This is super annoying! There is no problem with my keyboard, as I have no problem typing in any other program.

Also, the extremely useful coloured flags to mark important emails are now gone in the revamped webmail interface. Please restore them.

While I appreciate the work that has gone into the new interface, I really have to wonder if the concept of "beta testing" remains an essential step in new software development and release to end users.

My wife and I have different email addresses and use different laptops. After we received the new email format (which we do not like) an issue with replying to emails has happened. On both accounts we have added each others addresses so we can use either laptop for emails. If I am on her account  and switch to my emails and open my emails  I can send and receive emails but cannot reply to an email. A circle appears and spins forever. The same thing happens if she is on her email account, switches to my emails and tries replying the same thing happens. I have tried removing the account and adding the second one again and the same thing happens.  Thanks for any help 

I am thoroughly disgusted with the new BELL email page that  has been updated . When you write a new message the font is all over the place and the start line fluctuates to half way down the page. Part of your message is in 10 and then it goes to 14. Why ?

When you half finish a new message and want to go back and make additions or changes the entire message disappears. You are booted out of BELL mail. I went to move a message to a folder and the body of the message had disappeared. I don't think the BELL techies spent enough time double checking their work. Why didn't they leave well enough alone?

And also the contacts directory has changed and is not as easy to work with.

Further so my message this morning. I prepare a message . It has a few breaks for a new paragraph. I click on send. The message goes. Then when I look at the sent message the entire first paragraph has disappeared. So I have to find that portion with great difficulty , cut and paste the first para of the original message and resend it so that the recipient sees my entire message as originally prepared..

Is this an improvement in BELL mail? What is going on. Surely BELL is relooking at what the developers have done to a perfectly good system. And judging by all the hundreds of complaints on this subject others are as frustrated as am I.

I sent a message starting   Hi Jim  then down one line to begin. Sent and the salutation was not there. Are you people working to fix all these issues described by hundreds of disgruntled BELL mail clients?

I try to include a picture within the e-mail (not as an attachment) and continuously get a "Webtop Error" message. No idea what that means other than delete that email and try again. I kept making the picture smaller and smaller to where it was only 75k in size and still no luck. I ended up creating a new email and doing an attachment. What is the problem ?  Also - In the earlier version of email we could adjust the size of embedded pictures by clicking on the picture and moving the corners. That does not seem to be an option any more. It was helpful to make something fit into the screen.

The following list represents issues I'm having with the new Bell webmail.

I hope there are solutions out there.

1. Almost any scroll down of my inbox messages automatically bounces back to where I started from.

I usually have to do this three or four times for the list to be placed where I want it.

2. Many times when I try to update a box tab my webmail gets stuck with this spinning circle going around and around.

What does that circle mean?

3. I cannot pick/choose multiple emails by shift-down arrow anymore. What gives?

4. When I pick the all email box (top left of messages list) it only picks the messages on the screen, not the entire list. Rather frustrating when you have searched a buch of emails you want to delete at once.

5. Overall response of any command is a lot slower than it used to be.

6. Syncing between by webmail and bell iphone used to be at 'push' type speed. Now it takes forever for webmail to reflect changes on the iphone and vice versa.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Is anyone at BELL listening to us? They should have left well enough alone.

I just sent a message. It was sent. I then went to my sent box to review the message. There was no copy in the message. I had to click on that little arrow on the top right side of the page and then the message was there to view.. We did not have to do that with the previous BELL mail. What an irritating thing is this new improver format.

Bellpatricia Are you a BELL person? Is anyone at BELL doing anything about all these hundreds of complaints about the new BELL mail? The developers certainly did not check their work before implementation. The previous BELL mail was superior in convenience than the new format. Is anyone taking these complaints seriously at BELL and acting on them ? I believe you will be losing customers if the aggravating changes are not dealt with soon. I myself am considering changing providers.

Hello John   As a BELL employee can you confirm to all of we disgruntled clients that the BELL developers are actually working on fixing all these aggravating issues?

The previous BELL mail worked perfectly fine. Why try to change something that was working?

Sounds like you got lucky. Most of us are still struggling with changes made to basic features  that worked perfectly.. And getting bounced out of BELL mail is a regular occurrence. Instead of going back by clicking the left arrow top of page - you are out of BELL mail and have to log in again.

As a follow up to my previous complaint about the Move function. I have been living with this new format for a couple of months now and have tried to give the new format a chance but am still extremely frustrated with the move function. Is there anyway to return to the old format of the move function. For a user that has dozens of file folders, sub folders and sub sub folders the drop down boxes are extremely difficult to navigate especially if a file folder happens to be way down in your file list and it also has a sub folder and sub sub folder. The other option of dragging the file to move a file is also problematic for the same reason. Before I could just click on several files and quickly move them all at once. Hopefully something can be done to either revert back to the old version of move or make the function easier to use Thank You.
