Replaced modem won't recognize geolocation

Recently my modem was replaced with a rebuilt 2000 and it believes I'm  in Laval, PQ. I'm  near Apsley, Ont.

Tried a factory reset and multiple reboots to no avail. Internet connectivity is great, the location bias is the only irritant.

Suggestions?

Apsley is definitely not near Laval, PQ.

Unfortunately, this is something that is not within your control to correct. Give Bell Repair /Tech Internet support a call at 310-BELL or contact them via the attached web link.

They will look in to & take the necessary corrective action.

Hi there @Rascallion
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.

Are you able to provide a screenshot (please hide any personal info) or clarify where exactly it is that you are seeing it shows you're in Laval?

Looking forward to hearing back.

Well as an example when I open Google maps it will centre on Laval. Not sure a screen shot will make this any more clear...all my news feeds are Montreal centric. It's  quite bizarre what an affect geolocation has on what you are prompted to see. This is occurring on multiple devices so I'm sure it is the modem settings

Also most ads that come up on YouTube are now in French and local ads are Montreal based. Nothing else in my setup is different aside from the Modem replacement. Tech support by phone on the weekend was unable to grasp the issue so I will try again next week. This is not a big deal, just an irritation...thanks in advance for any help.

Are you experiencing this issue on all of your equipment? Computer ? Cell phones? Tablets?

Have you tried turning location services off? Rebooting & verifying your location after restart?

Are you using Windows 10 or a MAC? Apple or Android devices? All devices or just one?

Have you cleared your browser cache? Verified & reset your Privacy Location settings & defaults in Windows 10 & Apple, etc.. Cleared location history for the affected devices?

Turned off Location services for Google & YouTube? Removed & reinstalled both? Tried a different browser?

Two separate laptops running Win 10, Chrome and/or Edge. Two Samsung tablets w Android. Google pixel 2 phone running Chrome. With the phone on mobile data it recognizes the correct location. It will take a while to complete your list, but I'll get back to you when it's done. Appreciate the help!

Why does my location show Laval Quebec?

When I try to access my Disney webpage it states:-

We're sorry!

You are not eligible to sign in or register on this site. Your information has not been collected.

I have been able to access this page a week and a half ago but not now.  I can access this through my cell phone using the data from the cell phone but not the home hub modem.

Hi there @Joey

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Bell Community.
The Community needs a bit more information in order to help.

  • Where you are seeing your location information?
  • What type of modem/Internet service are you using?
  • Can you access your modem interface (192.168.2.1)?
  • Are you using a VPN?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Above is an example of the location information.  I usually use Firefox but tried to access the Disney site via Chrome.

As you may or may not be aware certain contests are prohibited entry in Quebec.  The Disney Movie Reward site could be one of the prohibited sites.

I've checked the forum before submitting my concern. I did not obtain a new modem, I've had this modem for quite some time. Just recently I have not been able to log in to my Disney Movie Rewards site and when trying with another browser (Chrome) it states my location as Laval, Quebec. How can I change my location or can you change it to note Toronto, Brampton or somewhere in Ontario. Regards - Joe -

I rebooted my modem and it appears all is good....hopefully this will remain so...

I am in Eastern Ontario.

At my friends,  using thier bell wifi my Isp keeps coming back as Quebec locations,  which is annoying for a number of reasons.

How do I get bell to fix this?
