Slow speeds with Gigahub on 3gb

I’ve currently upgraded from HH4000 1Gb to Gigahub 3gb and my wifi speeds are terrible.

I’ve already turned off wifi optimization and Wifi 6, along with different SSID names. Currently on firmware 1.14.1

how can I get the new 1.15x firmware @BellPatricia

I currently have the Gigahub with a 3 gigabit connection and the speeds have been underwhelming and the connection drops often. I have been reading that some firmware updates have helped and given that my current firmware version is 1.13, I believe an upgrade to 1.15 would potentially help. How do I go about updating the firmware?

Hi @gelton44 , did you manage to get the firmware update pushed to you?, I have 1.15.2 and that still has not proved to be good. I also got 2 Wifi pods from bell that are hardwired in, when doing speed test with 1 device connected to each of the pods and hub I still only max out to about 1.6gbs total of the 3 devices, still better than the 700mbs I was getting with the HH4000 only.   The only way I can get some stupid speeds is hardwired with a 2.5gb card..  Starting to think about downgrading to 1.5gb and using my own Linksys Velop mesh, the Bell Wifi seems to be unreliable.

That all makes sense. As I said above, wireless speed is not cumulative (you can't add it together) but is completely dependent on the speed of your individual wireless devices. My iPhone 11 maxes out at 750 Mbps down/up when it is 1m from the Giga Hub modem. When using the pods, speed decreases. For example, speeds on devices connected to  my furthest pod, not hardwired, are about 70Mbps down/up. It is still very reliable. It also takes 24 hours after making changes for the network to settle and figure out it's most efficient configuration. This is true of all mesh networks, I believe. 

With respect to hardwired connections on the Giga Hub, again you are correct. The limiting factor is the speed of the modem port on the Giga Hub (there is only one 10 Gb port; the other 4 are all 1 Gb ports) and the speed of the network card or port on your computer. If you have the 3 Gb down/up service and your network card is only 2.5 Gb, the maximum speed you can achieve is 2.5 Gb down/up. In order to maximize your speed on your hardwired computer you would have to install a 10 Gb network card and use a Cat6 or Cat6E network cable between the modem and the computer. If you use one of the four 1 Gb down/up ports, you will achieve a real world maximum of about 940 Gb down/up. 

Not knowing the rest of your setup, it does sound like you have maximized your speeds, however.

I was on firmware 1.15.2 and for the last 2 days was experiencing terrible download speeds, I contacted Bell Support yesterday and after looking at my logs realized the support updated me to firmware 1.16. Well I wish I could say things are better, my wifi is all over the place and my 2.5gb connect to the 10gb port is very slow.

I just tried another speed test by moving the cable from the 10g port to the Lan port and got much better results.. I think the firmware or the 10g port is defective.

This is a wired connection? The speed you show is consistent with using Cat5 ethernet cable connected to a 1 Gb network card or motherboard network jack. You will need to install a 10 Gb network card, of your motherboard has space, and use a Cat6 or Cat6e ethernet cable (a short one - 6 ft- comes with the Giga Hub) connected to the Giga Hub to reach 3 Gb speed, if this is a wired connection. The modem is probably fine.

I also have experienced awful download speeds since "upgrading" to a giga hub from my hub4000. My wireless speeds from my pc connected to a pod were close to 900 mbs and now they go no higher than 240 mbs. i was told that updating the firmware was going to solve the problem. im on 1.14.1 how can i get a newer firmware pushed to my hub?

Getting so fed up with the performance of the GigaHub, have firmware 1.16, this is a wireless test. 

I'm getting Rogers speeds..

Speeds still very slow, been testing since Wednesday.. Even though my Transmission speed looks good. 

I ended up adding a Linksys veloup to the network, 1 Node only and the speeds went to 550/600 dl on the bell site.

Finally, I just received a NON GigaHub 4000.... I hope things get better now.. 2 months of bad speeds.

That would not be unexpected for that phone under optimal conditions. At the same time there are so many variables with wi-fi and with 5G that comparisons between individual users is often difficult.

Hi,

I recently purchased a new package, the 1gigabit using the Bell's Gigahub.

There's quite a inconsistencies with the speed using wifi. Sometimes I'm at 800-1000mbps of download and another time I'm at 40mbps...and sometimes the upload is much faster than download.

Why such inconsistencies? I thought the gigahub would bring a stability. I mean I don't expect to get 1gbps all the time but at at least 400mbps (and I'm being tolerant here) is already acceptable. 40mbps is really unacceptable this type of package.

Anyone else experience this issue?

What we don't know and no one has control over is the connection and congestion beyond Bell's system. Variances do happen. That is part of the nature of the internet itself.
