What is the function of email forwarding? I am supposed to select up to 10 email addresses, and select whether to forward of not, but what does it actually do? I want to forward everything that comes in to another account, but when I enter the email address for that account, and enable forwarding, nothing happens. What am I missing?

Hey there @MightyCue. Welcome to the Bell Community and thanks for your post.
Email forwarding allows you to choose to have your new incoming emails forwarded to another email address(es). There are 3 options which are Disable Forwarding, Forward and keep a copy, Forward then discard.
Check out Managing mail forwarding settings
for steps on how to set it up.

It took several tries before it actually started working, but now it works as you described. Thanks.

Your description sounds like what I want but the description on the Bell page <https://support.bell.ca/internet/email/how-to-change-settings-in-bell-mail?step=8> says differently.
I'd like to have select email addresses that land in my Bell "A" account automatically forward to my Bell "B" account.

Well 2 years alter your post It doesn't work. I've tried bell help and they just keep telling me the instructions.
The original version allowed you to select an incoming email address and forward it to another account. I had 5 separate email addresses that I was able to forward to my main address. It no longer works as it should.

Good Day.
The Mail Forwarding Option works as follows:
You can choose to have all of your incoming email messages for one webmail account auto-forwarded to a maximum of 10 other email addresses. When this is enabled, all incoming emails to your webmail are automatically forward to the email addresses that you have chosen. You have the option to keep a copy of the incoming email that is forwarded on your webmail email account.
If you have 5 separate Bell webmail email accounts, you will need to set the Mail Forwarding Option up in each webmail email address to auto-forward all emails to whichever other main email account you so choose.
To manage mail forwarding:
- From anywhere in Bell webmail select the gear icon
- From the menu on the left, Select > Mail Forwarding.
- Select > Enable forwarding
- Select > Choose whether you wish to Forward & keep a copy
- Enter up to 10 addresses, separate each address with a comma.
- Select > Save.
- To turn this feature off, delete the email addresses, uncheck Enable Forwarding & Save your settings.

Take care.

Firstly, it works that way on my sympatico accounts not on my bell.net account. The bell.net account returns this error message <An error occurred when saving the destination address. Please try again.>
Secondly the original operation allowed me to select which incoming email addresses I wanted forwarded. I don't want them all forwarded.

Good Day.
On your previous reply, you asked: " Do you mind me asking how you use the function?"
I wish I could assist you further, but I cannot. I have been a Bell webmail user for many, many years. I do not recall any previous option that allowed email addresses & incoming messages to be set up & forwarded as you suggest.
It may be that I do not fully understand your question, and that is quite possible. I can only advise you on how it works today. If you are looking for something more, maybe another member will jump in and provide you with a workaround.
Have you logged in to each of these email addresses separately on Bell webmail & set up the Mail forwarding option. If you are attempting to set this up from within MyBell, this is not possible. You do not need to set all of your email accounts up. You can pick and choose the number of account & up to 10 forwarding addresses for each. If you are looking for an option that will handle all of your accounts with selective delivery of incoming email messages, the Mail forwarding option will not do this.
Once setup on Bell Webmail, all emails sent to that specific email address will be forwarded to your choice of email address destinations.
The Mail Forwarding Option for Bell webmail does work. It does not setup & forward with options that will meet your expressed needs.
FYI Only. I tested this on multiple bell.net accounts with no issues.
Take care.

Yea, I know how it works now. It's not what I want.
It still doesn't explain the error message and non functionality of mail forwarding in my bell.net account when it works as advertised in my sympatico.ca accounts.

I have set up the server for a sympatico.ca account (through webmail.bell.net) to forward all incoming emails to an alternate address. It is working fine with the majority of the emails, but some do not transfer. There are no rules or filters set on the Bell server that I can see.
One commonality is that the majority of the ones that don’t forward have imbedded links (such as ‘View in browser’, or linked pictures or graphics), and I am wondering if the Bell system is not forwarding these due to potential virus issues. A number of these emails are spam. But, some of the emails that do forward have imbedded links.
If filtering is the problem, is there a way to turn this off.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi there @billyboy
Welcome to the Bell Community.
We are happy to help in any way that we can.
Are your forwarding your emails to multiple addresses? If you are please check to ensure that each email is valid and active.
Also, are the emails that do not forward all from the same sender?

Hi Patricia
The emails are only being forwarded to one address.. And eight or nine out of ten are being received with no problem.
There is some consistency in the ones not being forwarded as they are all emails sent to a list, and most emails received from these senders (and there are a number of them) don’t forward. But there are exceptions. One sender has had four emails fail to forward, and then the fifth one did. All of them had imbedded links, so my embedded link theory may be wrong.
I have been testing the forwarding function for about a week now and there are six senders that consistently don’t forward. So it’s not a big issue, but it is annoying.
I considered activating the ‘forward and delete’ option to see if the ones not being forwarded stay in the original inbox, or drop into the trash (which is were I assume they would go), to see if the system thinks it has forwarded the message and has deleted it.
I also have a second Sympatico email that I haven’t used for years, but it is still active, so I will add it as a second address in the forwarding function and see if the problem happens there as well.
I’ll let you know. Thank you for your help.

Thanks for your reply @billyboy
Have you had an opportunity to test forwarding the mail to your other email account?
Keep me posted 🙂
