Incoming landline Phone call arrives as Text? Screenshot attached

Good day all;

I've got a recurring issue that I have not been able to fix. I've researched, tried the suggested troubleshooting steps, etc. To no avail.

Phone is a MotoG6 Play. Used for Voice calls and Text only. No Wifi, no Data, Data block applied.

Issue: Frequently - and randomly - an incoming voice call from a standard, local landline results in a Notification in Messages, not Phone. No ringing, but a ping indicating a Text message sounds instead. Additionally, the notification shows "tap to download". Download what ???

I do not use MMS, just SMS, but I also cannot find a way to disable MMS features. I don't know if that's even relevant, sadly.

Here's what I'm seeing:

Any insight into this very odd behaviour would be much appreciated.

Thanks and Cheers

Hey there @SF3L

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

That is definitely odd and the Community will be happy to help wherever we can. As the Community is a peer to peer assistance channel a few more details will be needed;

  • Are you seeing a missed call in your call log?
  • Can you confirm if it happens with the same caller or it is from random landline callers?
  • Have you blocked any phone number in your reject list?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you tried?
  • Did you get in touch with our technical support team to look into your concern and open a ticket if needed?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Hi, and thanks for the response.

I'll try and answer as best I can (replies in Bold)

  • Are you seeing a missed call in your call log? No.
  • Can you confirm if it happens with the same caller or it is from random landline callers? Random
  • Have you blocked any phone number in your reject list? No
  • What troubleshooting steps have you tried? All those listed in Self Help that may have been relevant. Reset all app preferences. Reset Network. Have NOT factory reset. Have NOT upgraded firmware/apps/OS since the phone was new - no network connections are permitted.
  • Did you get in touch with our technical support team to look into your concern and open a ticket if needed? No. Have not had the best of experiences in this regard. Chat has also Never worked. Leaving it at that.

What's REALLY odd is, since I've reported this, the occurences have completely Ceased. Hence, I'm just going to monitor the behaviour going forward and if the issue resurfaces, it may be time to simply upgrade this device ;-)).

Thanks  again for trying to help, sir.
