Manually Toggle Between Slow and Fast Data Speeds

Is there currently a way to manually toggle between fast data speeds (full 5G) and slow data speeds (limited to 512kbps) on a bell mobility plan?

If not, is Bell willing to implement a toggle option either via the Bell Account on the MyBell App or under network options on the device settings?

My specific use case is trying to conserve my monthly full-speed data allocation by being willing to accept lower data speeds for tasks that are either not time sensitive or don't need the full 5G bandwidth to noticably benefit. Such tasks may include overnight downloading, low quality music streaming, low quality audio calls, GPS navigation, or system/app updating.

I would rather conserve my full speed 5G data on bandwidth expensive tasks like streaming videos or video calling instead.

I understand this is a niche request but customers should have control over their own data connection speeds and data usage. We shouldn't be forced to use full speeds for minor tasks.

Thank you for your question. The answer is no. Speeds can't be "toggled" between higher and 512kbps on your Bell Mobility plan. You can, however, limit speeds by manually toggling on your phone between 5G and standard and allowing more data on 5G, at least in iOS 18. Check out your phone's support site for specific ways to change your setting. It may be found under the Cellular settings but again, look at your phone's operating system support site for more specific device information.
