Hey there @Fiddler ,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

We wanted to check in and see if you were still having issues with your service. If so, could you provide further details for the Community to be better able to assist?

  • Is the poor cell signal in your area a new occurrence? Or has it been ongoing for a while now (if so when did it start)?
  • Was there a change recently that might've made a difference? Getting a new phone as an example.
  • When you say missing calls, is it only your phone calls being impacted? Or is it all services, including data and texting?
  • For when you're home, have you tried activating Wi-Fi Calling?
  • Do you know of anyone else in the area having similar issues?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you personally completed?
  • Have you got in touch with our technical support team to open a ticket?

In the meantime, we'd recommend taking a look at our How To articles on Troubleshooting voice callsOpens in a new tab or window and Troubleshooting data connectivityOpens in a new tab or window for troubleshooting tips and advice.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you for your question. Part of the reason you experience poorer cell service is that cellular signals are radio signals. That radio signal strength decreases the further you are from the broadcasting antenna.

In addition, the transmitting power of a cellular radio signal is measured in watts or fractions of watts (so small that you would not see a light bulb at that power level). In contrast, a commercial FM radio signal is measures in hundreds of thousands of watts. That is why you can hear a commercial over-the-air radio signal over a long distance, especially if the land is flat and there are few trees and buildings to interfere with the radio signal. Cell signals have less power and a much shorter range.

In addition, according to my favorite cell site map , there are fewer cell sites on the eastern (Souris) and western  (Tignish and Alberton) parts of PEI and a lot more cell sites in Summerside and Charlottetown.

Finally, according to Bell's cellular coverage map, 5G coverage is not available beyond Cavendish and Charlottetown, in general. You can zoom the map in to your location to see what services are available to you and where.

I hope to is helpful to you.
