I recently purchased a new S23 Ultra to replace my older phone. I can charge my phone with USB just fine but when I connect it to my laptop or my car's system neither recognize that a USB device is connected. I need the car connection for Android Auto and my laptop for file transfer.
I'm using a brand new USB C cable in perfect condition. But it doesn't work.
I've search for the USB settings on the phone but no luck in finding those. The one source said to go to "Settings --> Developer Options --> USB Configuration" but can't seem to find developer options. Or any USB settings for that matter.

Hi:
I have a Hyundai Santa Fe and I connect my S21 Ultra 5G to the USB with no problem. I also have it paired and its set me as as the primary. I do use Android auto, which I access on my built in Map system.
You may have a dirty connection port on the phone or the vehicle. I would try and clean it with a dental pick withe a silicon bristle tip, a tooth pick might also work.
The cable I use is very short, about a foot long. Its a type A to type C USB.
When you connect a phone to a new vehicle , which has the Android Auto app installed, it will prompt the user to add a new vehicle to the list. I used it it on a 2023 Chevy Equinox and my 2018 Santa Fe. I also make sure the phone app and OS are current, as well as my vehicles mapping software. You may even try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. You will then have to login to Google. Good luck.
