Hi there @Jcf

Thanks for your post and welcome to the Bell Community.
It is possible to connect a Vip5662w to the Giga Hub using an Ethernet cable. The VIP2502 is intended to be used with a Wi-Fi connection and is not meant to be connected via Ethernet.

Good Day.

Please refer to the Helpful reply on this thread. The VIP2502 is not meant to be on an ethernet connection and is meant for a Wi-Fi wireless connection setup.

Take care.

When I connect my ethernet cable to the box, its the receiver lost the signal and goes from wifi to ethernet. After awhile i just lost the signal and get a black screen. What to do? Is ethernet really supposed to work. I read somewhere it was not possible anymore.

Hi there @MartyD
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
When hooking up the receiver to an ethernet connection, the connection will switch from WiFi to ethernet.
Are you able to share some further information?

  • Do you just lose picture and the screen goes black?
  • Do you have any audio playing in the background when this occurs?
  • When the issue occurs, are you able to change the channel?
  • Is there any error message or code that appears on your screen?
  • Are you connecting the ethernet cable directly from the receiver to the back of your Bell supplied modem (can you confirm which modem you have)?
  • Are you able to confirm which receiver model you have that you're using?

Looking forward to hearing back.

*Model vip2502

i get a black screen and losing the sound. Or getting a very bad signal (kinda buffering situation) and at some point i lose the signal and get a blue screen with error message code 101.

its like the receiver goes crazy and doesnt know if it should get the data from a wifi or hardwired source and just failed.

Hi @MartyD
When this occurs, do you notice the same issue happening on your main receiver or does it only happen on the VIP2502?
Does the issue occur if you do not use an ethernet connection and strictly use the WiFi?
Do you happen to have a VAP (little black tower that's either plugged into your VIP2502 or plugged into your modem)?

*I dont have this issue with my main receiver and its connected with the ethernet.

*if i disconnect the ethernet, the signal is fine with no flickering/buffering

* i dont have a VAP

house was set to use ethernet for  a faster and more reliable connection. So its puzzling that all of sudden the ethernet is not working anymore. It was working fine till a couple weeks ago.

Hi @MartyD
For the meantime, I'd recommend just using the WiFi connection on your VIP2502 if you're not experiencing issues with a WiFi connection. We've also sent you a private message to gather some information so we can take a deeper look into this.

Hi there @MartyD
After having this investigated by our support, it has been advised that the VIP2502 is not meant to be on an ethernet connection and is meant for a WiFi connection setup.

I tried to connect vp2502 with ethernet cable and it resulted in signal error.  I have the hub 3000.

Just have to be 100% sure (it won’t work).  😁

Hi all

my vip2502 was working well over ethernet with Giga Hub until couple weeks ago when a power outage reset the vip2502 box and from that time connected only over wi-fi even I see the ethernet connection in Giga Hub
under
statistics and system log under modem
Thanks

Good Day.

Please refer to the Helpful reply on this thread. There is an ethernet port on the VIP2502. It is not meant to be used to connect as an ethernet connection. The VIP2502 is meant for a Wi-Fi wireless connection setup only.

It is possible for you to connect your 4k VIP5662w PVR receiver via an ethernet cable.

Thank you for posting your question.

Take care.

Thanks @WelshTerrier I saw the message but when Bell technician put the box in place they told and actually worked on ethernet for almost one year 🙂 so I'm confuse "why" and suddenly no
I guess there is a settings inside of the box allow ethernet connection or not

Thanks again for help
