FibeTV app Maximum Playback Length?

If I record a sports event or movie longer than 2 hours I can only watch the first 2 hours and 6 minutes on any of my FibeTV app devices but can watch the entire recording if I watch it on my Bell rented PVR. Is this an over site in the app or a limitation?

Hi KBrunner, I work for the Fibe TV App team and can confirm that this is a current limitation of the Fibe TV Apps.
The Fibe TV App recording will follow the set length of the scheduled program, if the program (notably sport events) runs over you will have the option to record past the scheduled end time. However, this "extended" portion will only be viewable on the Bell PVR.

A trick I can offer is to manually record the schedule program after the sports event as a separate recording, this way you will have it recorded at least.😊

Recording extensions work for your home tv but not the App.  You will have to record the event after the program you want to extend.  You will end up with 2 back to back recorded programs which isn't ideal but solves your problem.

Despite setting recording tor 2 hours after the scheduled time the recording ends at the scheduled time on Fibe App. The recording is extended as set on home TV.

Hi JD,

Thank you for your reply and a great tip.

This is a major shortcoming of Bell Fibe.  Is this on the list of upgrades to be fixed soon?

Good point. Is this planned to be fixed in the next release?  Its been  around a LONG time!  And it doesn't seem like it would be very hard to fix. And really by allow recording extra time on the app you should allow playback on it also no?

It almost seems like a way to encourage us to rent more pvr boxes so we get a feature that should be included. Bell wouldn't do that would they?

It cut off short at the last few minutes and did not record the best part!

Hi,

FPtv (880) programing does not match TV Guide which results in recording starting when show is already underway, or ending prior to show end.  Same daily show does have the same duration in Guide... "Júlia" is a recent example. Who ensures broadcast matches programming?  Only happens with this channel....

Who decided that NHL hockey game broadcasts last only two hours and thirty minutes?!

I am always adding an extra hour to the recording time on setup, or recording the following program to have a decent chance of seeing the end. From where does this time data come?

Can Bell employee please reply, I have the same problem but watching on Bell Fibe Box TV.  I extend the recording with the maximum allowable, which is 30 min and I also record the program that follows a hockey game, which is usually Sport Centre.  So I manage to see the end of games if they are playing longer than usual.  So annoying, too many extra steps & recordings.  When is Bell going to fix this issue?

I tried to record a football (soccer) game today, the FA cup game between Manchester United and West Ham United, but my recording seems to have cut off a fair bit before the actual end of the game. Consequently, I missed two goals scored at the death and I am really not sure I am going to use this option for sports events in the future.

Problem description:

I recorded a few 2.5-hour hockey games using the Five TV app and added 1 hour extra recording time. On PVR playback, the time bar shows only 3 hours recorded, not 3.5. Strangely, the program will play the last half hour but *only if* no playback controls are used, while the progress bar remains stuck at 2:59:56. During this last 30 minutes, pressing any of pause/forward/back immediately returns the recording playback to the 3.0 mark.

Rebooting does not solve the problem (PVR 2262).

Hi there @gkatch22
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
Do you have multiple receivers this happens on or is it just the VIP 2262?
Does this occur only with hockey games or does it happen with other recordings?
Looking forward to hearing back.

I have one receiver. I’ve seen the problem only on recordings which had extra time added, which so far in my case is only hockey broadcasts.
