Thank you for your quick response!
For some reason, I get an the error reported here (https://forum.bell.ca/t5/TV/Bell-Fibe-Voice-Remote-Support-Remote-Settings-always-show-error/td-p/92...) when I try to change the remote's setting...
So I went through and reset the PVR box to factory settings and cycled through the setup once again.
On the remote configuration page, it prompts me to try to mute/unmute the TV, which works the first time, but I know that this initial configuration will only work for the TV's sound, and not turning it on/off as I went through this a few times already. So I went through the cycle of "Try again", then "try again", etc... each one not muting the TV, until I reached the end of the attempts, which then prompted me to select the my type of television (Samsung), which I did. I completed the PVR's setup and I can nom turn the TV off with the remote properly.
Hope this can help other users...

Good Day.
Great news. Thank you for your reply. Keep in mind every TV is slightly different. As I mentioned, each manufacturer has multiple codes these days. If you change your TV, start over & return to defaults.
Enjoy.

Why does my LG smart tv show Google pictures instead of turning off when I use the power button on my fibe remote?
Also, when I search for a show, I get Google results.
How do I get rid of Google?

Hey there @Grandpa_Don,
Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community 🙂
Can you clarify which Bell remote you are using? It sounds like you need to pair the remote to your TV set, and we invite you to check out the link we posted in this Helpful reply
for instructions.
How are you searching for a show (e.g using voice, or the buttons on your remote)?

The only solution which I have been to be successful, is to completely reset the box from the universal button on the right or left side of the box. A menu will appear which you can control with your remote.
This does mean you will be resetting all channel configurations and other choices, but it is the only solution that has worked for me.
I believe that it is referenced somewhere else on the forums this factory reset method. I personally found that a contact with support has never provided a solution, and the last time I called in, they advised me not to try a factory reset, that there documents and troubleshooting suggested that a new remote must be sent out - at a fee since it is out of warranty.
Hope that helps.

Hi, new Fibe customer here. Connected my TV box with the voice remote to my TV today and went through the initial process…
Connected to the modem fine, remote paired with the TV box fine, but when it comes time to pair my remote to the actual TV I get the message “Oops, it seems like we couldn’t fully configure your remote. Press OK to try again.”
i just get stuck in an endless look of pressing OK, trying again and getting an “oops…” message again. I can’t get past this screen.
Anyone have advice? Again, it’s the box with the voice remote. My TV is a Sony Bravia. About 15 years old. Connected fine to my old Rogers Ignite and my Apple TV unit so it shouldn’t have any issues.
Any way I can at least get past this screen and use my TV’s proprietary remote for power and volume and try to resolve this through my Fibe box’s actual settings?
Very frustrating.
Thanks in advance!

Hi there @Shellshok
Welcome to the Bell Community 🙂
We recommend that you try and restore the remote to factory default settings.
To do so:
- Select Settings from the home screen.
- Scroll down to the Support section and select Remote Settings.
- Select Reset.
Then, check out the How to program my Bell Fibe TV remote control link posted in the Helpful reply above. There you will find a step by step on how to pair your Voice remote to your TV using the appropriate code.
Let us know how everything goes.

Good Day.
This is a very common setup issue with most new TV's today. With the expansion of TV models & the vast array of new features that accompany Smart TVs & their peripherals, you will encounter this problem.
Many of the popular TV manufactures have expanded their list of remote codes that they are using. Samsung is just one of them.
Your remote control is not paired properly with your new Samsung TV. It needs to be programmed with the correct Samsung remote code.
You will need to remove your Fibe TV box from your Samsung TV connected devices & set it up once again. Follow the onscreen instructions. Please note, Samsung has more than one remote control code. When running the setup you will be asked to change channels, etc. This a common setting with Samsung. You must also check the volume + / - & power off /on. If it does not work on the first Samsung code, try the next one. I set my remote up after trying 3 different Samsung codes. The first code did not work. The second code gave me volume & channel changes. I was successful on my third attempt. The third Samsung code gave me everything. I am using a Samsung solar smart remote.
Hoping this will be of assistance to you.
Take care.

I bought a new tv and am trying to pair my Fibe voice remote. All the functions on the fibe remote work except for the volume controls and the on/off. I have to use the remote that came with the tv for volume.
When I got to "settings", "remote settings" nothing happens. It doesn't open then freezes. I have another tv and the settings work fine.
I have unplugged the Bell box and the tv as per suggestions in other questions but no luck.

I would suggest the following.
Do a factory reset by pushing the multifunction button on the side of the box. Could be left or right. Varies.
With the box connected and tv on before pushing the button you should see an option screen come up. Choose factory reset.
You are now setting up the box from scratch. Follow the instructions step by step and you may be able to get the remote to control your tv volume.
If not call support. They are going to take you through a decision tree of steps that may help or may not. If all else fails they may send you a new remote or box or both.
Yes the remote control setup app built into the device is very unpredictable.
Takes patience.
If they send you a new remote and it still won't control the tv try the factory reset and personally I would ask for a new box.
There has been discussion here about codes and other suggestions depending upon tv model but I have never had to use codes. The box detected the tv. Not sure if bell is keeping the auto code set up to date to new tvs.
Good luck.
Maybe one or more of the forum aces can chime in as I just know how to fix my tvs. I have four remotes now from them persisting that they have to replace it. I don't debate it anymore when I go to support. I just take it. That is what the written decision tree.
If you haven't yet try the virtual repair assistant.
https://support.bell.ca/internet/service_is_not_working?step=2
It may help.
Good luck. Let us all know how it goes. This is a common error which bell has no consistent solution for and does not acknowledge the factory reset option and that this is often not a remote issue but an issue with the box programming and comparability with newer tv sets.

Thank you Bruce! After spending 30 minutes on the phone with a Bell rep who went thru her entire flow chart, telling me it was Toshiba fault and I should call them, then said they would have to send me a new remote (at my expense!) I bit the bullet and did the factory reset and it worked! You have saved my sanity and confirmed to me to never bother calling Bell for support anymore.

Yes it is reported frequently here. Sometimes replacement helps but for some not. I have four remotes now. See my post to @Beans333 for the factory reset process and their similiar frustrations.
I have yet to speak to a rep who says other than replace remote when resetting the box is also a possible solution.
I have said this before. A user to user forum is not a replacement for well developed and maintained support channels. The forumshoukd in practice feed change to support as users find solutions or workarounds.
Hope that helps many.
Bruce
Pass it on. I have made it my mission to advise on this one when I see it. Since support won't pick up the ball left to us.
Note the factory reset option was presented by @WelshTerrier Dec 12th and has been brought up by others since but it is not marked as a solution.
One of a few possible solutions but a proven solution.
As to why this happens. Bell support can't tell us nor give the reset box solution as an option.
Pass it on. How do we get it marked as a solution. Although not the bell support recommended solution it does work for some as reported.
