Update - None of the troubleshooting worked so I got a replacement remote under warranty and it seems to be 100% working right away.  The original remote must have become defective somehow.  The new remote paired with the TV on the first try.

I took a look through the other posts on this problem and was able to take care of mine by resetting the receiver or "box".  I'm a firm believer in "Forums"

Good day @Denise12345

Welcome to the Bell community.

Can you try resetting the remote to factory settings? Simply select settings from the home screen > Scroll down to the support section > Select remote settings > Select reset.

Then, follow the steps below to program the Voice remote to control your TV.

  • Select Settings from the home screen.
  • Scroll down to the Support section and select Remote Settings.
  • Select Setup.
  • Press the mute button on your remote.
  • If the sound on your TV is muted, select Done. *If the sound on your TV isn’t muted, select Try again.* Repeat until you’re able to mute your TV.
  • Press OK on your remote again to exit.

Let us know how everything goes,

@BellPatricia

Sounds like you need to reprogram your remote to teach it what TV you have.  What kind of remote do you have?

Bell Voice remote and 7802 set top box not pairing with an LG CX TV

Hey all,

My remote and TV don't seem to be getting along, when I run the voice remote setup from the set top box the mute button doesn't stop the test sound, I keep hitting try again with no luck until it tells me that no codes work.

Even though the remote isn't pairing properly, it still seems to be able to turn on the TV when the box is powered on and control the TV/Soundbar volume but it's unable to turn the TV off which isn't good for an OLED that could be prone to burn-in.  When I hit the power button to turn everything off only the STB goes to screensaver mode.  I have to use the LG remote to turn off the TV.

Weird thing is that everything seemed to be working properly a few days ago, started doing this seemingly out of the blue.

Anyone have any ideas?

Good day @GroundhogGus,

Welcome to the Bell Community.

Are you still having trouble after checking out out the troubleshooting articles we posted hereOpens in a new tab or window

No luck!  I've tried a factory reset of the set top box and played with every remote control setting and it keeps saying no codes work.  I also saw a reddit post saying that LG CX isn't supported?  But I swear I was able to turn the TV off with the Bell remote for the first 2 weeks of having Fibe lol....

Other strange thing is that when I reset the remote settings and it fails to setup with the TV, I can't control the TV volume with the Bell remote until I turn everything off and then when I hit the power button on the Bell remote it turns the TV, STB and soundbar on and then the volume controls work right, but still can't power off the TV.

Maybe the remote glitched out?

Hi @GroundhogGus,

Thanks for your reply.

Did you also perform a factory reset on the remote control? If you check out the support article we posted, there are steps listed on how to factory reset the remote, and additional troubleshooting you can try that will help determine if the remote control needs to be replaced.

Tried that several times and no luck, so either the remote is busted somehow even though all the buttons seem to work or my TV is somehow not supported?

Update - None of the troubleshooting worked so I got a replacement remote under warranty and it seems to be 100% working right away.  The original remote must have become defective somehow.  The new remote paired with the TV on the first try.

I just received a new bluetooth slim remote. The receiver works fine but unable to program TV. I have a Haier TV but none of the Haier model tested works with the mute button. Any ideas if there is a generic brand or something else I can try. It worked with my old remote before it conked out.

Have you checked that your new remote is recognized & paired to your receiver? To do so: Select the > Menu button on your remote. Go to  > Settings > Remote control > Remote control Information & Remote Setup & verify that the new remote look is recognized & paired to your receiver. If not, then you will need to pair the remote in the Setup.  You will need to set the new remote to Factory defaults & then repair it. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Here is link that will walk you through the steps.

I have the latest giga box and 7802 receivers.  The voice function works fine on my Sony and TCL TV’s but not on my Samsung devices.  Bell says they are working on it.  Any experiences with this problem?

Does anyone know the remote code for a 2023 LG smart tv and a Sonos Bean Gen 2 soundbar. I would like to program the 9400 receiver remote to control the sound

Hi there @Stuartmac
Thank you for your post.
Are you able to clarify further what it is that you are doing and the issue that you're experiencing?
Looking forward to hearing back.

I got it figured out. If someone else is using the 9400 remote and need to program it for a Sonos Beam 2 sound bar. Use the Sonos App under settings, living room, remote control setup, follow the prompts. You can only setup one remote, if you have more than one it will cancel out the other if you program a second remote. But it works for at least one.
