Crave first page has changed, yes?

It takes forever to scroll through shows - Is there a way to search for a name?

Hey there @Claudester

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community.

You can easily search Crave content a few different ways.

If you access Crave via the On Demand menu simply select Search, located at the bottom of the menu on the left hand side of your screen.

When you launch the actual Crave app there is a magnifying glass Search option (top right of your screen).

If you tune into Crave by loading it on channel 1310 simply use the search button on your remote control.

Ever since I changed my PVR, channel 1299 which is the Crave guide is no longer providing a search capability. It simply lists a few movies.

Help in resolving this is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello @BellPatricia I am trying to find the search function as well.   I am trying to use Crave on channel 1310.  The model of my Fibe receiver is VIP5662W.    There is no menu, or list like the one you included.

Thank you.

Hi there @MarkCal

Welcome to the Bell community.

Can you please share a photo of what you do see?

Thanks!

@BellPatricia

Good afternoon @BellPatricia

Attached please find pictures of what the channel now looks like.

From what I've recently found out, this channel i.e.: 1299, now has a new look and feel, which no longer offers a search option but instead simply lists what is available and your viewers are now expected to use the "Search" button found on their remote instead.

It is unfortunate Bell chose to not advertise to their Bell customers the upcoming changes, leaving them to wonder what had happened and if the issue they were experiencing was related to their respective PVRs.

Knowing now the alternate method to search the Crave listing is to now use the "Search" option of the remote. In light of this, you can consider this issue closed.

Since Bell has full control over what gets viewed via their equipment, I would suggest they make use of this capability and on occasion post advisory messages letting their Bell customers aware of these types of changes.

Hi Claudester,  thank you for posting the pictures.   This is my view as well.   Any suggestions @BellPatricia?

Thank you.

Hello @MarkCal

If you are accessing Crave through the Video On Demand storefront (channel #1310) you can simply use the search button on your remote control.

Have a nice day,

@BellPatricia

Recently it seems that Crave has a new layout to channel 1310.  There is no longer a search option that I can see.  How do I search for a specific actor if I don't remember the name of the show/movie?  The 'old' Crave allowed for this.

You are right. Like all of the on demand channels it shows only crave recommends, just added, and genres. No search in on demand at all

To search you will need to use the remote voice search and search by actor name. Not that I found Noah Wylie who is on the Pitt available on Crave on demand and live on USA today. I got a you tube result. The ability to search specifically on an on demand channel does not seem to be there.

Unless someone has any other thoughts.

I have never used search that much, so I was unaware of this change.

I personally use the Crave App. It has a search within the app.

You could also use on demand search on the app on your phone or tablet. Use search there and cast to bell Fibe box.

In researching, I found through Google AI overview, which is learning to put related docs from bell and Google assistant that since we are making a search through video distribution services on our device, since we also have you tube installed by default, it prioritizes media video searches to you tube first and others later. In the experience described above of search for Noah Wylie all I got was trailers on you tube so some times the Google assistant on the remote gave me the Pitt on Crave in French when I searched the Pitt.

So I see no way to do a spefic search through on demand channels, except via the remote voice assistant and even saying on Crave makes no difference on the Noah Wylie search. It is following the Google priority to its own programs algorithms.

I generally do a Google search for movies using an internet search engine of choice. Example Arnold Schwartzeneger on Crave returned 9 movies. Just a general search you will get a list of all streaming services or where to buy.

I think they gave up on a dedicated internally provided search engine for their product media lines for the Google assistant to provide voice searches on Google ability to control Google home devices, control navigation of the device, but on search for video across the device Google owned you tube wins.

Hope my experiences and work around help. Wish it was different but unfortunately when you choose Google baked in it comes with unexpected costs.

So Bells advertising is partially true on searches across the device, but doesn't mention the realty of priority to you tube.

I just tried to search for a show on your app, which was found, but is not found using the search solutions on my tv access to Crave that you illustrated. Why would the searchable content be different?
