I have the same problem. Over the past 4-5 days, my receiver (or modem) shuts down suddenly. I unplug the power cable at the back of the modem, wait 30seconds, then plug it back in. In about 2min. everything comes up as it should, but I don't believe the random shutdowns are normal.

Good day @Richard Mac 🙂
Is your TV receiver plugged directly into an outlet or are you using a power bar or any type of extension?

I have the same problem as @Richard Mac Our VIP5662 receiver started spontaneously rebooting a few weeks ago, usually while we're watching tv. It has worked fine up to this point, for about 3 years, and nothing about the setup has changed. Bell sent a replacement unit last week and that one too is spontaneously rebooting. Did something recently change with the firmware? Or perhaps the firmware for our Homehub 3000? I can't think of any other reason for this.

Hi @MR99
Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community 🙂
The Community will need more information in order to best assist you.
- Is your TV receiver plugged directly into a power outlet or are you using a power bar or any type of extension?
- Where is the equipment located (e.g. in an enclosed space like a cupboard, or in the open with no other equipment on top/beneath it)?
There are a few things that you can try:
- A new HDMI cord and a different port on your TV.
- Plug the receiver into a different power outlet (and be sure not to use a power bar or an extension cord).
- Ensure the receiver is not situated in a space where it may overheat.
If the issue does persist you can also factory reset the equipment. Just use a paperclip to push down on the DR button located on the back of the receiver. If you do factory reset keep in mind that any recordings and preferences will be lost as well.
Keep the Community posted, and let us know how everything is going.

My receiver has been on the top of my cabinet open forever, seems no matter where in the house we put them they get hot so I always make sure it will get all the air it can. Even the new one was hot right out of the box soon as it was plugged in, they just run hot it seems.
I have tried different plugs, power bars, rooms, TV's HDMI ports and cable but always end up with the same results.
