Netflix stopped working on one of my receivers it’s giving me code 500. I called bell and they told me there is nothing they can do as you can only have Netflix play on the primary receiver since the update. Logically it’s hard to comprehend, can someone please help with the issue ?

Hi @Shems98 Welcome to the Community!

Check out Netflix app on Fibe TV HD receiversOpens in a new tab or window.  As of July 20, 2022 the Netflix app will no longer be available on some Fibe TV HD receivers with the exception of the VIP 5662 and VIP 7802.

Netflix is still available on the Bell Streamer or any supported third party equipment such as Firestick, Chromecast or Apple TV.

In order to provide a consistent and quality experience on all devices, Netflix has decided to discontinue their app on select TV receivers. The following Bell receivers are impacted: VIP 1200, 1216, 1232, 2202, 2262 and 2502. If your receiver is affected, a message will appear on your TV screen when you launch the Netflix app.

This change was introduced on July, 20, 2022

The decision to discontinue this app on select TV receivers does not affect access to your Netflix subscription. Find details below on ways to continue to enjoy Netflix.

Here is a Netflix link that will explain connections on Bell receivers: How to use Netflix on your Bell receiver

The Netflix app will still be available on the following Bell receivers:

  • Fibe TV Box (VIP 7802)
  • 4K Whole Home PVR (VIP 5662)
  • Bell Streamer

Call 1 888 383-6942 to learn which options best suit your needs. Additional charges may apply to upgrade / change your equipment.

You can also watch Netflix on other devices:

  • Smart TV
Check your TV’s documentation to see if Netflix is built-in.
  • Streaming media player
Connect a media player such as the Bell Streamer, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV or Google Chromecast to your TV.
  • Gaming console
You can also download the Netflix app on many consoles such as the PlayStation and the Xbox.

Our Netflix has stopped working on our second server and we want to know why??

The Netflix App on our Bell Fibe Receiver suddenly stopped working (the additional receivers not the 4k receiver)  The Netflix app opens and  you can pick a show but the show will not play just get an error.  This just started this week.  We have rebooted receivers and modem but nothing fixes it.  Is anyone else having this issue?  It is only an issue on the additional receivers not the 4K Receiver nor any other Netflix app on other devices.

How do I obtain new boxes from my televisions so as to allow netflix? Is there an additional fee?

Bell says that to continue using the Neflix app, we need to upgrade our receivers at a much higher cost, buy smart TVs or go back to cabling Netflix shows from a laptop.

Netflix says this is false, and that new receivers are not required as of Feb. 27.

We feel like we're being played, especially since Bell's own Crave is available with a convenient app.

Yes have no problem with the new netflix policy and have advised Netflix of my  principal address with my 3 Bell Box et screens .

Well after all good by Netflix I learn from Bell that only one of my 3 modem boxs meets the new Netflix streaming technology where before I could operase the 3 units without a proble,.So no Netflis on my 2 other screens ??

What is going on , cannot get an answer, Netflix says that no changes to technology of streaming and Bell is trying to hit me with additional costs to upgrade 2 or my 3 modems ,monthly charges plus hardware delivery costs and technicians time .

Anyone having similar issues

I know my solution also cost money, but I use only Amazon Fire Tv Cube with the Bell, Netflix apps and more. You can also get the Bell streamer at $79 to use Bell app and Netflix.

Thanks but here is the crux of my situation, I have complied with the demands of Netflix one principal addtress for my Netflix account , done over with. Netflix has said taht my 3 receivers moldems etc are all good to go but Bell looking for me to do an upgrade that I do not consider necessary as all three boxes mdoems are the same and wotked beautifully befoe this new dictayte by Netflix

I was recently informed by a very nice Bell employee on the phone that I will no longer be able to watch Netflix due to the fact I have two "older" receivers. To upgrade to new receivers would cost me $100 total to have the replacements mailed to me. Anyone else in this pickle? If this is in fact the case, it's goodbye Netflix. I bet it's up to me to now call Bell and cancel Netflix and stop the payments as it did indeed stop working as of two days ago

Hello, I assume your Netflix subscription is done directly with Neflix and your Bell receiver is simply a way to consume the Neflix service on your televisions?

100$ for two new receivers seems like a reasonable deal, to be honest, if this is a one time cost only.  If this is attached to a location fee, then, yes... maybe you shoud look into other alternatives .

A few of the alternatives could be:

-A lot of televisions have 'smart' features, including Apps like Netflix, so this may be an alternative for you to access your Netflix content.  This would mean no additional cost to watch Netflix, but you would need to adapt your viewing habits, using the app installed on your television.

-You can buy a 'smart' device, like an Amazon Fire Stick (50$), Roku Streaming Stick (70$) or an Apple TV (180$) to add tons of smart functionalities to your television, including Netflix.  There is a Bell apps that can be installed on the Fire Stick or Apple TV, allowing you to watch the channel you are subscribed to on your Bell package, via the app.

hope this helps

Thank you for taking the time to provide all those great ideas and options!

Why do you keep taking channels away and still charge same price and it even goes up.
