No issues when sound comes from the smart tv itself, such as Netflix, but when using the VIP2502 which is connected to TV via HDMI, no sound. Bose sound bar connected to TV via optical wire.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

I will do my best to try and assist you with the setup of your he Bose soundbar with the VIP2502 receiver. At one time, I had a Samsung Smart TV, with a VIP2502 & Bose Solo Series 2.

If it is the Solo 2 series, Solo 5 or Bose TV speaker, there is no HDMI. There are only optical & RCA connections on the soundbar or speaker. You should check your TV settings  & verify the audio output setting is set to Optical. Your Bell Slim remote will not control the on /off for your Bose Solo. It will be able to adjust the volume + / -. You Bose remote will be required to control your soundbar power on / off & all other audio functions. Did you Bose soundbar come with a Bose universal remote or soundbar remote?

Are you using a Smart TV with eArc capabilities? Is your Bose soundbar equipped with eArc HDMI?

Can you provide me with the make and model of your TV and the model of your Bose soundbar?

To connect TV audio to your soundbar, determine which HDMI connection on the TV is labeled ARC (or Audio Return Channel).

For a TV with an HDMI-ARC connection:

  • Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI ARC jack on your TV to the HDMI ARC jack on the back of the soundbar. The HDMI cable should be rated as High Speed or better.
  • Some televisions require user activation of the ARC function before it will send the audio signal to the soundbar. If no sound is heard, be sure the TV audio and HDMI settings are set properly within the TV settings menu.

For a TV without an HDMI-ARC connection:

  1. Disconnect any HDMI cable connected to the HDMI input on the soundbar.
  2. Locate the optical output connection on your TV. If one cannot be located, refer to its owner's guide. A TV without an HDMI-ARC or optical output connection is incompatible.
  3. Connect an optical cable from the optical output on your TV to the OPTICAL IN connection on the back of the soundbar.
  4. Check for sound by pressing the TV button on the soundbar remote. If no sound is heard, be sure the TV audio and optical settings are set properly within the TV settings menu.

All audio/video devices requiring a wired connection must be connected to the TV.

Given how you've got things set up, you're going to have to find some setting on your TV that allows sound input to pass thru to the sound bar.

In the physical setup you describe, you're not getting any sound from the Bell receiver because it has no connection to the sound bar.
