Recordings will now expire after 60 days

If I have recordings older than 365 days, (or more than 320 hours), will they all suddenly disappear?

This is a drastic change that most people probably don’t know about.
TV isn’t essential of course, but I still have some old stuff I’d like to watch.

I don't think that is true. I talked to a technical support manager this morning, who told me everything would be removed after 60 days, regardless of the receiver type. Nevertheless, even if that is true, there is no point in having it for me. I try to record sports and shows on my iPad on the go. They all go to cloud PVR and will be removed after 60 days. Anything on the box won't be accessible on the go. We subscribed for a cloud PVR service, not an old hard drive at home, to keep the recordings (that can be done easily at a much lower price!)

I have a VIP 7802 and I am quite annoyed at this major change in the service agreement. Sixty days is not a long time, can I download my older programs to my PC. How do I then play them.

Is there the option of changing out my VIP 7802 so I am not affected?

I received the notice that the storage time is decreasing to 60 days. When can I expect the notice outlining the reduction in the price of the service?

I'm not paying the same amount of money for less service. You entered into a contract with me, and I expect it to be honored.

I don't understand the logic behind Bell deleting things off my PVR after 60 days. I"d like someone to explain to my 4 yr old and 8 yr old granddaughters why they can't watch The Wizard of Oz or Hook anymore because BIG BAD BELL says they have to be erased because the movies have been on my PVR  more than  60 days  To this new "policy", leave the PVR alone..

I agree 100% with you. I too have old recordings that I watch and things for my younger grandkids to watch. I think this 60day  thing is, but you never see your bill go down when they make a change.

Dogs_rule is Right On!!!  Unfortunately in this case Bell_rules. We just keep paying the bill : (

I just found out that you will erase any recordings on my PVR after 2 months. If I have bot the unit what gives you the right to erase the content??

This action was not what I expected.  Some of what I have recorded are not even available on demand.  Why did I buy this unit if I have no control on what I recorded.

Will the shows I download from the fibe tv app stay on my device as long as I want? With the new policy to delete saved shows after 60 days, I can no longer binge seasons of tv shows or save hockey games to watch in the summer so I want to download them and save them for later. Ideally, I’d like to save them on an external drive that is connected to the pvr. If I can’t use Bell’s cloud space, I will happily use my own.

I agree, it's a deal breaker for me too.  I only use about 15% of the available space on my PVR.  This change is NOT necessary and we should be advised when a contract expires, not during.

I totally agree.  I've got a documentary on my PVR, it'll disappear soon but I can rent it for $4.99 for 2 days.  I would never have signed up with Bell had I known this.  Cogeco has offered to pay off my contract - it's worth looking into further !

You can get 2 Tb of cloud storage for $10-$15 with data protection and all kind of support. Bell offers cloud pvr for 320h at $10 and now they want to remove all the recordings after 60 days. This is crazy policy that unfortunately comes from the fact that they have monopoly in the market.

the good news is that now there are many good tv services over the internet that we can subscribe to and just cancel this overpriced service!

Why are you going to delete recordings that are 60 days old rather than the current 365 days.   This is very drastic and in spite what you say I'm sure it will adversely affect many subscribers.  It has been poorly communicated and I am sure will come as quite a shock to many.   We regularly receive very good offers from other companies and I have not taken them because I don't want to lose my recordings.  There will be no reason to remain with Bell in the future so I might as well save myself a about a thousand dollars the first year.   Cutting costs by cutting what you give your customers is a terrible strategy.

What an odd reply.  I want the programs I recorded to stay, don't tell me of various other things I will be able to do.  I want what I recorded to be available for an extended period of time not just 60 days.

How do we get access to the older model PVR's ?
