VIP7802 always has Dolby Vision on.

I just had Bell Fibe 1Gb internet and Fibe Tv with the new 4K Cloud PVR installed.

I notice when you boot or reboot the Fibe box, the Dolby Vision icon will display on my LG OLED tv. If I check the video display info on my Denon receiver it indicates it is receiving a Dolby Vision signal from the Fibe Tv box. This is for every channel and causes the picture to look very contrasty due to Dolby Vision being on all the time.

I can't find a setting to turn of or control HDR settings. I have an Nividia Shield 2019 model and there are options on it to disable HDR settings. This doesn't happen when I use the Fibe TV app on the Shield.

Please advise as this will potentially over time damage an OLED tv with burn in.

Thanks.

Yeah the App’s 4K setting is Bell exclusive. The streamer has SS I believe in the App too (it’s integrated so the line is kinda blurry). In the device settings, there are also  three Dolby options plus DTS & AAC.

lol my ATV actually don’t even have that in its own settings. I don’t have a sophisticated sound sys. so the box only mentions LPCM.  But you never get the surround sound right?

So we are almost 3 months since I reported this issue and have yet to receive an answer or ETA of when this problem will be fixed. Can someone at least confirm that this is an issue that will be corrected?

I called today to try and revert to the 4K Home PVR and was told this is no longer possible.

I asked to have the $50 shipping and handling charge for this piece of junk reimbursed to me, and was told that is not an option either.

I held on to my old PVR just in case, now it looks like I have no choice but to mail it back.

My new cloud PVR will remain unplugged in its box until this is all fixed. The AppleTV app is light years ahead anyway.

Any updates to this irritating issue yet?

Well I had a notification pop up that there was a firmware update available, and needed to reboot to install it. I rebooted the box to install the update. Was hoping to see this issue addressed, but no luck. As soon as the box boot screen shows up, so does the Dolby Vision Icon. This is frustrating that we have not yet even had a response that this is a problem that will be fixed, or even acknowledged that Dolby Vision is on in error.

What firmware build do you have?

I am on version 10.04.02.03.159 and am not showing any updates available.

I got a new OLED LG C2 a couple of weeks ago and noticed this problem as well.  I went into the tv settings and disabled enhanced hdmi which disabled hdr for the bell receiver. I then reenabled enhanced hdmi and it stayed at sdr for the bell receiver. Everything seems to be working fine now, my xbox series x is at 4k 120 hz and my bell receiver stays at sdr all through the same hdmi port.

Just a note, this does not survive a reboot. I have to switch enhanced 4k off then on to make the bell receiver properly display in SDR.

I just realized mine is 565.1 (RELEASE) instead of 578.1. Looks like they stopped pushing the problematic update after your report? Or could it be a regional difference, i.e. ON and QC?

I also have 565.1 and have this issue with my LG OLED. However as I explained above, I can correct it by going to my tv and bringing up settings/general/devices/hdmi settings/hdmi deep color and turning off 4k. Then I turn 4k back on and the hdr problem is fixed.  If the box gets rebooted you will have to do this again.  It seems like a handshake issue between the receiver and the lg tv.

It has been over 4 months since I posted about this issue with Dolby Vision HDR being on when it isn't supposed to be. Can anyone at Bell at least acknowledge that is is an issue that will be fixed? No one has even bothered to get in touch with me with an update on this issue yet since I gave my contact info to Bell as requested.

I am paying for a box that I can't use due to the terrible picture caused by this.

I just got the 578 version yesterday and realized that they fixed the casting problem. Previously the screen will show a blue screen with parallel lines and the lines will stay on the screen most of the casting period. They probably fixed the Google Play Store Crush too, but I cleared the app’s cache before testing.

Well we are at month number 5 with no action on this issue. Haven't even been told it is an issue Bell is working on. Disappointing customer service for sure.
