Have you been getting spam emails – messages you didn’t sign up for from senders you don’t recognize? Some try to get you to click on a link or open a document that might be a virus. Others are phishing attempts – ways to get your credit card number or other personal information. Like that wealthy stranger who just needs your bank account info to send you tons of money.
If you think an email is suspicious, don’t reply to it and don’t click on any links.
What you can do is use the tools in Bell email to mark the message as spam, so our anti-spam team can check it out and block the sender.
Junk email
Junk email is different from spam. It’s just email you aren’t interested in, even though it comes from legitimate companies. If you don’t want to hear about every sale, every day, from that store you shopped at one time, use the unsubscribe link in the email. By law in Canada, all companies sending email marketing have to include an unsubscribe link – even if it’s really small and kind of hard to find at the bottom of the message.
There’s no point in marking junk emails as spam, since our anti-spam team will see they’re from legitimate companies and won’t permanently block them.
You can easily block a sender yourself, though, or even a whole domain (e.g. @junk.com). Here’s how:
- In your inbox, check the box beside the message you want to block.
- Select More, then choose either Block sender or Block domain.
You can also block senders in Bell webmail
by opening the Settings menu (gear icon), selecting either Mail or Security, depending which version of webmail you’re using, and using the Block sender options.

This is so ridiculous. Bell has been unable to stop/reduce the volume of spam to my sympatico account. The suggested solution is ineffective. I now have 531 spam emails I have blocked each sender and placed the email in a junk folder (from May 27/2023 to today).
Perhaps I should seek alternatives in external forums.

It would be nice to block all incoming mail and only let mail in the safe senders list thru. Blocked mail could go to the junk/deleted file and you would check it regularly to see if there is a ' safe sender to add to the safe sender list. This way all spam would be stopped.
Re an add I see about 5g, Bell says they have improved it it, HMMM why isn't this called 6g?

Unfortunately spammers are more intelligent than continuing to use the same email address or even domain.
Bell mail has been inundated lately with so much spam. These spammers are constantly changing their email and domain.
Bell should be doing a better job.

Blocking individual senders or even their entire domain is no longer sufficient. Bell email accounts are constantly getting inundated with spam and phishing and they are constantly changing email address and domains.
Bell should take better steps on their servers to block this before it gets to the mailbox.

Not helpful since I've blocked so many spam senders that I have "reached my limit" of accounts to block with Bell email. I'm currently receiving almost 100 spam emails a day on my Sympatico email account. Bell needs to do better with their Spam filtering!

Thought i would do a quick test and forward a copy of all my Bell.net email to my Gmail account. Not a single piece of SPAM even made it to my inbox or SPAM folder.... obvious Gmail is doing something right.

How do you report unwanted mail as spam? We have been inundated with unwanted email (at least 100 per day) from american investment, political, rumour senders etc. We have blocked sender, blocked domain, junked... and they keep comming back every day. We really need help to stop this.

I'm still getting them from gaming sites offering free money, eventhough I blocked their email addresses.

Recently, I discovered that my main email address was found on the dark web, likely through a data breach. I have been inundated with spam and phishing emails. I was able to manage the spam using the methods outlined below, but the phishing emails are from 1 particular sender. I have done all of the following to no avail: I have tagged the emails as junk, spam & phishing (dozens of times). I have blocked the sender, but had to do it manually as they manipulated my settings so that the auto-block feature in my bell outlook web client is disabled for them. I did it by manually typing in their address to the blocked senders list. I noticed yesterday, that after adding it to the blocked senders list, it somehow disappeared from that list and I had to do it again. I have set up rules in my desktop outlook to move their emails to junk to try and train junk to catch them. And I have also set my junk filter settings to allow safe senders only. None of this has worked. I will get up to 20+emails from the same source every day. I also have Trend Micro protecting all of my devices to the fullest, and have done scans for malicious software. So far no issues that way. I am beyond frustrated and a little worried. Is there anything else I can do before dumping this email address completely?
