Has anyone connected directly to their router with an SFP and PPPoE or another method? I'm looking for the right 10Gig SFP, but I'm not sure what one to get
I have a Ubiquitiy UDM SE gateway/router. Currently I have a 10 Gig SFP+ to RG45 with a patch between it and the HH4K's 10G RJ45 port. I'd like to eliminate the HH4K and go direct if possible.
thanks.

A lot will depend on the packet inspection settings of the UDM. They are not exactly high performance machines and the firewall and stateful packet inspection settings can greatly affect throughput speeds on them.

Okay sooooo 🤔
For some reason the next day I go and test my internet connection and I am now getting 2.5G down and 3.01G Up!!!! 😊
Go figure!!
Another question to put to you all may be dumb but here goes 😖
1. As I have mentioned I currently have my existing network with a DNS/DHCP server on it (Window's server 2019) with the Asus GT-AX6000 router. This was plugged into the Bell GIGA 10G port via the 5GB port on the router. I will eventually move the server on to the new Network (that has the UDM PRO On it)
2. Currently my UDM pro is setup on its own with the US-16-150 POE switch and 1 U6-Pro attached.
Question: The UDM pro at the moment was built with a default configuration setup however, I do not see the DNS for it. My Laptop which is wired to the UDM Pro for some reason will not access the internet because it status that there is no DNS for it to find.
I would assume I would need to setup a DNS or at least have an IP to put into the DNS for the UDM (the UDM 192.168.1.1 or the DNS of the Bell GIGA Hub) so that the laptop can have access the internet. I cannot put my existing DNS/DHCP on it since it is not on the same network at the moment. Currently my UDM Pro is setup exactly like my current network as it pertains to IP address.
How to I get around this issue until I am ready to add my current DNS/DHCP server?
Thanks

Just for some clarity. Are you saying you have two third party routers connected to your bell gigabit? The UDM and the Asus?

UDM has it's own DHCP server, it's located under "network" -> "networks". You can set it as server, relay or none.
The UDM DNS servers can be configured under network -> internet for both IP4 and IP6.
The UDM has no DNS server, but you can assign local DNS records to each device under "client devices", but that does require each client you want to assign a local DNS record to use a fixed IP.
I guess I should add that a DNS server is not the same as a DHCP server, so I am not 100% sure what you are saying when you talk about your own DNS/DHCP server.

in other words, go into the DHCP service settings and change the scope so it’s in a different IP space as your asus for testing

Yes currently I have my old network environment connected to one of the GB Ports and the UDM connected to the 5GB port.
Both networks are working not an issue.

Hi Vanadiel,
Yes you are correct about the DHCP and DNS on the UDM.
However I currently have a windows server (2019) running as my DNS/DHCP server on my old environment which I will bring over the UDM when I am completed with the configuration of the UDM.
I will not use the DHCP/DNS feature on the UDM but will point to my Windows server. That is why further in the conversations I mentioned that the Windows DNS/DHCP server is running on IP 192.168.1.3.
So until I am ready to move the Server on the the UDM domain I should just use 1.1.1.1 for the DNS

Technically they are two separate networks (with external IP address different from the other) does not matter if similar IP since I will be removing the old once done. I currently have one laptop and switch on the UDM

If you have a DNS server running at 192.168.1.3. you can just point it to that instead of 1.1.1.1
If you then setup DHCP as relay it should use 192.168.1.3 as DHCP server, although it's usually not a good idea to use the same IP for both a DNS and DHCP server.

I think you are getting a bit confused or could just be me and the way I am describing the issue. lolololol
1. There are two separate networks my old and my new - the new is the UMD PRO and the OLD is my Asus router.
For the UDM PRO, once I have completed the setup I will move my DNS/DHCP server over on to the UDM network. At that point I will use the 192.168.1.3 on the UDM to be the DNS and DHCP server.
However at the moment I am using the UDM for configuration preposes and have NOT put it on the same network as my old one. I was going to put the DNS to 1.1.1.1 for the laptop on which is connected to the UDM network
