It is not normal for emails to delete themselves. Are you using an email program such as Outlook? Safari? Both? If you are using a software application instead of Web Mail access to open, view, forward, reply, send or delete email it probably is a setting. If you are using a combination of different software programs / application plus Web Mail access that are linked it could be as simple as the email being removed from the server by one of your program settings. Check for a setting that tells you to leave on the sever until you choose to delete it.

Thanks for the reply.

I use a Microsoft desktop, and android phone and tablet. As a result I use a combination of mail apps including Webmail, Microsoft Mail, Outlook, and Gmail.  I did suspect one or more settings were the cause.  But this problem started in the last two weeks and no settings have been changed for over a year.

has anyone else had a problem with inbox messages automatically being deleted once you reply to the message? I have to go to the deleted folder to move them back to my inbox....

I have the same issue as Dan and this started recently. I use Webmail typically, although I have Outlook on one of my tablets and on my android phone. Most of my time is spent on my Microsoft desktop. After I reply to a message, I have to remember to go put the original message back in my inbox from the deleted folder. I'm thankful that I happened to notice this as soon as it started to happen. I'm thinking a change has been made recently on Bell's end that has caused this.

They are definitely having problems.  I called support on another issue last week. I was not receiving some emails.  These were from people I normally communicate with, like my brother.

After escalating my issue they called me back same day and mentioned it was a server issue.

I'll be calling again.

I've been having the exact same issues since last week. When replying to certain emails I get the pop up error "An unexpected error has occurred" and when I click "OK" the original email is gone from the inbox. Very frustrating! Hope they fix this soon. The other new thing that's happening is that I get logged out much more frequently from webmail.

I am having the exact same issue. This PROBLEM started last week. Bell must have done a program update. There is no setting to NOT ALLOY this annoying feature. This is definitely a BUG that requires immediate attention.  Secondly, another BUG that was introduced, when I want to move a message to another folder, the folder dropdown used to resize to the entire vertical space within the window. Now, the folder move window only shows about 10 lines. This is frustrating because it causes me to do extra scrolling to dig thru my folder lists. This is the same issue for any secondary windows that pop up under the originally selected move folder.

I get that often, and when creating emails ... and even more annoying is that you can't save what you've done so far. I end up copying my work and then deleting and restarting a new email

Hi all...

I'm new to the community & hoping somebody can answer this.

Recently when I reply to an Email it automatically sends the original Email to the Delete Folder & I have to go in & move it back to the Inbox.

I suspect there must be a setting somewhere that I must have changed causing this issue.

Thanks...

Hey there @Dan-Golfer, @Sharon, @JP2@Muskie99d  and @Wolfman,

We would like to welcome the newcomers to the Community and thanks for your posts.

We would also like to start by reminding all of our users to stay on topic and try not to deviate to other issues within this thread.

To investigate further, we will need some clarification from you all;

  • You've mentioned using different platforms, are the deletion only occurring when using a specific platform (webmail, outlook, etc.) or it does it with them all?
  • Is it occurring only when replying to a specific email service (Gmail, Hotmail, etc.) or with every email?
  • Some have mentioned the emails disappearing, are you able to retrieve them in your deleted folder like the others?

Looking forward to hearing back from you all.

1. the deletion is happening on all platforms.

2. seems to occur when I reply to any email service but not all the time.  Is sporadic.

3.they do not appear in the deleted folder.

  • it's when I use webmail on my Windows11 desktop. Outlook on my andrioid is ok, and I will check my IOS later
  • I don't know what email service the sender is using
  • playing with emails this morning and it appears to be working as it should (Murphy's Law lol). I'll try again later

I am strictly using Webmail services.

I open an Email to respond.

After I send a response I notice the original Email that I replied to is now in the 'Deleted' folder.

I go in and manually send it back to the 'Inbox'.

I use Webmail on Google and mail app on Android and this is happening still today on both platforms. Replied to emails always move to deleted folder. This is not a platform issue, this is a Bell Server software issue. I can understand how some users might find this useful, but for me absolutely not. I need control over my email chains and moving them to appropriate folders manually.
