I have discovered that the instructions for listing one's email and phone number as contact information for the purpose of receiving one's passwords from the router/modem are not entirely clear, they leave out one very important detail: any email or phone number MUST BE ISSUED BY BELL OR ITS AFFILLIATED PARTNERS all of which I have never heard of. This little detail is only discovered when you have read through the tutorial trying to discover why you don't receive the password you need to gain access to your modem, and only at the very end of that tutorial. To be fair, it specifically says "the phone number must be issued by Bell..." it doesn't refer to emails, but the effect is the same: no information is conveyed to a non-Bell email address. When you don't get those passwords ,there is no means of entering the correct information, Bell technicians cannot help because "the modem is a 3rd party source", your only recourse is a factory reset of your router. I did try the virtual repair: it quit half-way through the testing, and then all attempts to self repair were met with " this service is unavailable at this time ,please try again later" for the last five days.
So be fore-warned, when you are entering contact information into your modem to receive your passwords so that when you "tap the button on your router" and it replies "your passwords are being sent to (your email address and phone #)" , that information must have been issued to you by Bell or one of its affiliates.
If anyone has found a way to access the modem, without a factory reset I'd love to hear of it.

As my tag indicated I'm on a HH3000, I couldn't get the HH4000 because my building isn't capable of any higher speeds than what is supplied by the HH3000. I have since factory reset the modem/router, and added a Bell issued email and now I receive the passwords in my inbox.

That's surprising. In the HH4000's Modem Preferences section of the dashboard, the restriction is confined to text messages: one must be a Bell Mobility or flanker brand customer.
Would you please post a link to the tutorial. I'd like to read the restriction on email. Thanks!

Re the issue you're concerned about, the model of HH wouldn't matter. I was interested in reading the restriction you referenced.
Glad you found a solution that works for you.
