Based on a number of fruitless attempts to log on to Bell, so I can see the details of my bill, using my default browser (Firefox), I was advised by Bell support that Bell had (arbitrarily) discontinued supporting that browser. I am now forced to use either Chrome or Edge. Is anyone else out there frustrated by this action or do we all acquiesce to the power of a dominant monopoly? (Is resorting to paper billing a protest option?)

Hi @stonecutter
I use Firefox to log onto Bell sites, including mybell.ca, without problems. I'm doubtful that you were given accurate information by the support person.
This is from the Bell Support site, here: support.bell.ca/Billing-and-Accounts/What_Internet_browsers_work_with_bell_ca
Maybe try again after clearing cached content and removing cookies for the site?
Hope this helps.

I tried the proposed solution but it didn't solve the issue. I was able to partially access Bell.ca on Firefox when trying to reply but the ability to reply was not available. I'm using Chrome to type & submit this, as Firefox is still unavailable to me for regular Bell access. (I have no problem using Firefox to access my bank, credit card companies, utilities, provincial & federal government websites. Only Bell is the issue.)
There's still no reply from the original, escalated, problem submitted to Bell tech support. (Maybe they're trying to use Firefox to contact me.)

I'm surprised that removing cached content didn't solve the problem you're having when using Firefox.
But it looks like you have now a solution, with Chrome.

Yes, Chrome is a solution (only for Bell) ...... but isn't that like saying Rogers is the solution to Bell?

No, it's not.
You have a solution to your problem: "...fruitless attempts to log on to Bell". Chrome.
"do we all acquiesce to the power of a dominant monopoly?" isn't a question which could be addressed by using any particular web browser.

According to Firefox/Help/About, I have version 100.0 (64-bit) & "Firefox is up to date" as of this week.
While I appreciate that Chrome may be a solution to my problem, it is baffling why all other institutions that I use, (e.g. bank, credit cards, utilities, provincial & federal government), there is no issue with Firefox. Bell support seem unwilling to ascertain why they are different (for me, at least). I've tried troubleshooting my settings but there doesn't seem to be anything that would make a particular provider problematic.

YES! I also can no longer log in with Firefox. I tried on a number of computers to log in with Firefox. I am forced to use either Chrome or Edge. This bad because Firefox is probably the most popular browser used. From what I read on a Facebook comment BELL has association with MS and Google, and this may be a big part of the issue. I have no idea if that comment was true or not...

Facebook conspiracy-theorists are not reliable sources of information.
I recommend using a different browser for Bell logins, if the issue isn't resolved by the usual steps (clearing cached content, deleting cookies, etc.)

Great troubleshooting conversation everyone 🙂
@stonecutter & @jerryg50 we'd like to gather more information from you so we can look into why you are unable to access MyBell using Firefox.

Hitting continue reloads the page, and the countdown starts again.
Using Firefox on Mac.

I went in to the Firefox settings. I did a search for cache. In the prompts it indicated cookies and site data. In there I clicked on Manage Data. The cookies listing window popped up. I found the ones labelled bell in their name. I deleted all the ones with the bell name.
When I tried to log in again it worked! Looks like most likely a corrupted cookie or cache file. I am presently logged in to BELL.CA with Firefox and writing this response... 😉

I get the same issue in incognito so it is not related to cookies or cache. I do have 3rd party cookies disabled, so it could be related to that.
There appear to be around 20 trackers embedded in the site, so one of those could be the problem. Bell seems to assume that nobody cares too much about security, and if you do then too bad for you - their ability to track you is much more important.
