Credit Union not listed for preauthorized payments from bank account

My credit union branch is not in the list when I am supposed to select my bank. I was told via chat there is no way to add it. How is that possible? SOMEONE must be able to add to this list! Any info on that?  Thanks

I’m trying to set up PAD payments from my chequing account, and my credit union is not listed in the drop down. This is very odd considering it’s the largest credit union in the province where I live.

Talked to a chat agent and was escalated to Accounts Receivable, only to be told there is no way to add a financial institution to this list. My only option is to order a book of cheques and send a void cheque with the hope that it will be accepted or open another bank account with a financial institution on their list. This seems crazy to me.

Is there really no way to add new financial institutions?! Newfoundland Labrador Credit Union (NLCU) serves more than 20,000 people. Them not being on the list is ridiculous.

Hey there @User767 ,

Welcome to the community and thanks for your posts.

We've forwarded the missing institution to be verified and corrected.

One thing to keep in mind, any updates of the sort may take some time to be corrected. With this being said, check for app updates and the list periodically to see when it will be updated.

My credit union, Prospera Credit Union (based in BC), is also not in the list for pre-authorized payments. I would appreciate it if it could be added!

Hi there, I recently switched to Bell mobility, and am trying to set up pre authorized billing from my bank account. My credit union is not listed on the Bell list of accepted banks. There is an option “my neighbourhood credit union”, but when I select that (and enter my account number), I get an unhelpful message saying that “for technical reasons” my registration can’t be completed. No  further explanation or suggestion of how to fix the issue is provided. I have checked with my credit union that they can accept pre authorized payments from Bell. The problem seems to be on your end. Thanks for your help.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Thank you for your post.

Have you contacted your credit union to confirm if they support this type of payment & if so, what their name would be listed as? You should also verify with them the correct spelling as well.

A Bell Forum moderator will forward your request to add your Credit Union to the financial institution list. One thing to keep in mind, any updates to this list may take some time to be corrected. Please periodically check the list or app to see when it will be updated.

Let us know if you require any further assistance.

Take care

Yes, I have confirmed with my credit union that they support this type of payment.  Bell Mobility is on their list of payees.  The credit union is Island Savings Credit Union, a division of First West Credit Union. Neither appears to be on the accepted list of credit unions provided by Bell, only the "neighbourhood credit union" option, which as I said in my post, does not work.

It is annoying because I was given a monthly rate for Bell Mobility that turns out only to be valid if I set up pre-authorized payments.  No problem, I would prefer to set up pre-authorized payments.  But when I try to set up pre authorized payments by credit card, I get a vague and unhelpful error message (there is a "technical problem").  I went in person to speak to a Bell rep about this, as I could find no useful information on your website. They said with my plan I can't use a credit card for pre authorized payments (why not, I wondered, but they could not say), but I can and should set up pre authorized payments from my bank account.  But that did not work either, as I say, and now you are saying it might "take some time" to be corrected.  In the meantime, Bell is charging me a higher monthly rate since I don't have pre authorized payments set up.  This seems ethically questionable since the error seems to be on your end.

I am currently regretting my decision to switch to Bell Mobility, but hope this issue can be dealt with quickly.

Hello,

I am a member of Cape Breton Credit Union LTD, they are not listed as a payee on the Bell system and I would like to set up Pre-Authorized payments.  How do I go about setting this up in the Bell systems?

Hello @BellAntgio,

Just wanted to follow up as I do not see my credit union in the app yet.  Is there a work around with Credit unions so I can take advantage of the $10 off autopay.  I do not want to miss out on this.

Good Day.

Thank you for your reply. There is no work around with credits unions. The 31-day grace period cannot be extended.

There is a 31-day grace period to register for pre-authorized debit payments after adding the autopay credit in an order. If you do not set up pre-authorized debit payment within the grace period, the credit will be removed.

I can only suggest that you check the list periodically to see if your credit union has been added.

Take care.

The Police Credit Union is not listed either. Called bell today and they had no idea how to add it. Told me to go to my bank and have them add pre-authorized payments through them. But that's not the same thing.

Then the Rep asked me to use a different bank. 😮
