Upgraded on wrong cell number. Activation issues

This is confusing, so will try to be as clear as possible.

I needed to upgrade my iPhoneXR as the screen is broken.
My wife also has a well working iPhone on the same account and is a shared plan.

When I was upgrading to a new iPhone for me, the website crashed, refreshed and I think it transferred the upgrate to my wife's phone. (This comes with a new plan with the new phone).

Regardless, recieved phone today...

I transferredy my old sim to the new phone and all works. No problem
However, when I go on the MyBell app or website it says to activate the eSim on my wife's phone number. Are you stuck with eSim to activate?

When I look online, it appears if I did that, it would deactivate her old sim.(It appears the new plan wont go into affect until its activated). I don't want that as I want the new phone on my account.

Is there a way to keep the new phone on my number, or am I stuck with the new phone on her number?

Note:
I phoned Bell and it was a bit of a struggle. In the end, the lady said, put my wife's sim in the new phone and then activate. Then swap the sims back over and we'd be good. Having read up, that doesn't seem right.

Think its best to goto a store?
Thanks in advance.

Hey there @Andybee

Welcome to the community and thanks for your post.

When a new agreement is created for a new device, you will receive a confirmation via email with the choices you've made for the phone number, plan and new device. Once the new device is received, you have to activate the order via MyBell and the agreement can't be transferred to a different number even if it is on the same account.

You do have the choice of either returning the phone back to us which can take time to complete (please contact us as soon as possible if you choose to do so) or you can activate the order which will deactivate your wife's current SIM to activate the service on the new SIM and new rate plan you would have selected. Once the order is activated, you can contact customer service to do a SIM swap back to her original SIM.

Hope this helps and let the Community know if you have more questions.

Thank you for your question. Yes, it would be best to go to a Bell store. Sometimes you just have to be hands on and face to face to resolve this kind of issue.

Hi

can you please explain this in easier terms..upgraded two phones on plan with same wireless plan. I meant to order iPhone 16 pro for both for the first one I ordered the plus by mistake. I was then just going to switch time so my daughter can have to pro (that I ordered for my number) and I would take the plus that I ordered on her number. Is this going to be possible or should I send the plus back?

Hello; We just switched 4 family lines to Bell. However, my ID show's up as my Wife's on other phones, and her ID shows up as mine. Why? How can I fix? Thanks

Whats the process for switching Iphones 14 & 11 between spouses. Switch sim cards?

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

If you own the devices, you can switch SIM cards between phones as long as they are compatible with the same carrier network. Your SIM card should also be compatible with the new phone in terms of size (micro, nano, and standard size) You may need to get a new SIM for your new device if your old SIM is not compatible with 5G.

Take care.

I recently got a new phone and got a new sim card and number and 2 year plan with that number. Now regretting not keeping my old phone number. Is there any way to switch back to the old number and sim card on the plan/contract or would the plan/contract need to be bought out? (I still have old sim card and number in old phone)

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

This is a peer-to-peer website. As such, we do not have access to your account and billing information.

You can change your mobility number. There is no guarantee that the number you once had is still available.

If you want to change your mobile phone number, for example, if you move or if you’d like a special number similar to your home number, you can do so by calling Bell Customer Service or by visiting a Bell Mobility authorized dealer.

Due to recent updates, mobile number changes via MyBell cannot be completed.

There’s a one-time mobile number change fee of $50 for changing your mobile phone number. For a special number, the one-time mobile number change fee is also $50, which includes the special number search and the number change. The $50 mobile number change fee will appear on your monthly bill. There’s no charge to change your Prepaid phone number.

Notes:

  • Only the owner, an authorized contact or a person whose name appears on the account can request a number change.
  • Unfortunately, we can’t provide a recorded greeting notifying callers that the number has changed.
  • If you are currently enrolled in a university or college and have a valid student ID, you are entitled to two free number changes per year.
  • All fees are subject to change.

Thank you for posting your question.

Take care.
