@WelshTerrier

Hi WelshTerrier,

Thank you for taking the time out to read and post a helpfully reply to my questions.

1. We are not moving and living  at the same address. My mom would like to keep her current number by porting over to my account. In other words, consolidating into one home phone line.

2. Currently, I have Bell Fibre Tv, Home phone and Internet Package. At the Bell store, the sales girl recommended this package to get discounts. However, this is my first time I am handling anything like this so I am somewhat lost as to how to handle it.  I want to cancel the Fibre TV.  All I want are Fibre Home phone and Internet services only.

Thank you WelshTerrier for your answers to my questions and helpfully insights to this problem.

Take Care,

Good Day.

Thank you for your reply & explanation. There is no need for you to go to the store unless this is more convenient to you.

  1. Forget the term porting. If I understand you correctly, you want to transfer your mother's Home phone service to your account & you will assume the responsibilities for this service. E.g payment, etc.
  2. You have  a bundled package for Fibe TV, Internet & Home phone. You only want to keep Fibe Internet & link this with the Home phone service that your mother will transfer to you.
  3. No one is moving. When everything is all done & the dust has settled, you will have Bell Internet & Home phone service only.
  4. You wish to have one Bell account with one combined bill that is in your name.
  5. If there is equipment to be returned, you will need to discuss this with representative. She will provide you with the return & shipping details.

If this is how you want everything to end up as, then call Bell Customer Service & communicate these changes as I have listed them above.

Please call: 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.

Take care.

Hi WelshTerrier,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Question: After I transfer my mom's home phone service to my account,  her current phone # will  replaced my home  phone number ?

For example:

Before transfer: Mom's # [ (514) 123-4567] , Newbie's # [ (514) 890-1234 ].

After transfer : Newbie's [ (514) 123-4567 ].

I would like to have just one fibre phone service line with the fibre internet. Maybe, I am making this more complicate than it is.

I will contact Customer Service to arrange what needs to be done.

Thank you for all your help!

Good Day.

That is correct. You & your mom need to specify this at the time you are talking to the Bell Customer Service representative. You want to transfer your mother's Home phone service to your account & you will assume the responsibilities for this service. E.g payment, etc. You want to remove your existing Home phone number / service & replace it with your mother's phone number which will become your phone service.

Take care.

Hi there,

I would like to know the best way to go about changing the ownership of home internet. I currently am the account holder, but would like to transfer it into another persons name to take it over. Am I able to make a new profile with the same account number and then delete mine ? What’s the best or right way to change this?
thank you

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

This is a true peer-to-peer community web site. We do not have access to your account & billing details.

If you wish to transfer the ownership of Internet account to someone else that lives within the same residence without service being interrupted, you will need to call 1 866 310-BELL (2355) to discuss this transfer of responsibility.

The transaction requires the agreement of both parties. The new customer will take responsibility for all past and current charges on the account.

There will be a service charge to make this change. It will appear on the next bill.

Please call 1 866 310-BELL (2355) to transfer responsibility to someone else. The person taking over the service should be present for this call.

The following web link includes the details for creating or changing a MyBell profile.

@WelshTerrier

Hi WelshTerrier,

A Review : My Mom's  Bell home phone service is on Copper ( needs to move it to Fibre ) and Newbie's home phone service is on Fibre.  We live at the same residence and no one is moving. So if I transfer my Mom's phone service to my account and replace my existing phone number with my Mom's.  Do I need to cancel my Mom's home phone service once my phone number is successfully replace by my Mom's or is it automatic cancel by Bell ?  All I want is one home phone number and service ( ie. one phone line) in my account.

Recently, there was a medical emergency and hospitalization of a family member. Therefore, it is important for the doctor's office and clinics at the hospital to reach us for follow up appointments.  I didn't call Bell customer service yet because I wanted to make sure that I am not paying for two home phone services.

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice on this matter.

Good Day.

As I mentioned earlier please give Bell a call, tell them exactly what you want to do.  Provide them with the same details that you have posted in your previous reply & explain the medical issue.  Allow the representative to work out the specifics in terms of the how & when.

You wish to have all of the changes to be completed concurrently.

Take care.

From my husband's name to mine

@BellPatricia

I'm posting this for a friend who also happens to be a Luddite.

My friend is 70. The bell account for his home address, which he has lived at his entire life, is registered to his father, who passed away in the 1980s. So something like Mr. John Brown.
When his father passed away, his mother left the account in his father's name but kept paying the bills regularly.
His mother passed away about 5 years ago.  But he has continued with the phone service and recently added Fibe Internet & TV.

So he's now continuing to pay and the account is still in his father's name.
He'd like to get the service registered in his name (his Hydro & Enbridge bills are also still in the father's name)
He's tried several times to get this changed.  Any suggestions on how the process might go easier?

Good Day.

I wish we could assist you in this matter, but I cannot. This is a peer-to-peer website. As such we do not have access to your friend's account & billing information.

My bell bill is attached to my late husband.

I guess I need a new account number or I won't be able to view my bell bill or make payments
