Hello I was called by this number +1 (647) XXX-XXXX is this a real bell support number?
they offered me a 40% discount on my bill.

Good move. The question as to saving on "your monthly bill" is so general as to be effective if you're not paying close attention. I would also block the number on your cell phone call list.

Tonight I received a phone call from “Bell” that said they could give me an $85/month discount for the next 5 years. I almost fell for the scam, however, when they asked for the account holder’s driver’s license to verify I knew something was wrong. Beware! The number that appeared was 647-XXX-XXXX

This does sound extremely suspect. The only time sensitive information such as a driver's license number would be asked for is when activating a new account, as it would be a means for our sales teams to complete a necessary credit check.

There have been scams I’ve seen that people have reported happening here and that looks like a scam big time .

I also received a call on aug 23/2023 saying they were from bell offering me same deal. after talking for about an hour and asking many questions I fell for this deal and gave personal info. when i hung up I called Bell myself and was told I was scammed. I had to cancel my visa and cancel my card, call equifax and these people still sent me a total different order from Fido.I called the police and reported all this and when I called fido to see why I recieved their phones they said someone had opened an account in my name.I am still in the process of resolving this mess. So please beware.

It is really too, too bad that you had to experience this. There is so much of this going on that it can be very disheartening when you hear another example of this.

Fraud.... pure fraud! Phishing, etc. etc. Remember one thing .... Do not give out anything to anyone you do not know or trust! Do not share personal information. Do not open links or messages in Emails or text messages!
Reputable companies such as Bell, banks, utilities & highly regarded services & institutions do not send you messages or make calls such as this! They do not call you asking to provide personal information. Hang up! Report the fraud! & Delete!
Caution is the better part of valor! STAY SAFE & BE CAREFUL!

No, this is not real. Its fraud. But I am not sure what they will do now... I also got scammed. They took my full name, Phone number, Residential Address and Email address. Plus they took my drivers license number which I gave a wrong one.....

I received similar calls twice. The first time I tried to give them my bell email address but they wanted me to spell out Sympatico since they didn't know the name of their company's own email server. So I hung up. The 2nd time, my caller ID showed that the call was coming from area code 212, New York City!!!! When I pointed this out, the scammer gave me bunch of BS to prove that it is a legitimate call. Again, I hung up. Lately I've tried calling back after suspected scam calls and I've found that the number is usually out of service.

Hi. I just received the same offer. They already had my name and address which is strange. I did give them my drivers license number but then put a halt to it when they asked for my credit card (to bill me refundable $20 shipping fee) and my social insurance number. I told them no. Can they still cause problems for me with my drivers license number? Thanks!

I just received a similar call. He sounds so legit at first and knew my phone number, email address, etc. Unfortunately, I bit and then found out they had change my password on MyBell. He told me what it was but it didn't work so I immediately did a recover and reset my password. I tried the number he gave and of course it was out of service. He said they were sending me an Apple watch and I knew then this was a scam. Not sure what to expect next since they were able to reset my password. I reset it to something else, but what's to stop them from doing it again. Luckily he didn't ask me for financial/banking information. That would have been an immediate red flag.
They had said they were sending me an Apple Watch. Instead, I received an iPhone 15 and a Google Pixel 8. I never asked for these. I've never owned an iPhone of any type and don't intend to start using one. Not sure what to do now. Worried that I might get charged for these devices.

Whatever you do, do NOT give these to anyone calling to pick them up. They will have been billed to your account and someone will pretend to be an employee picking up the phones so they can be credited. Call the police! DO IT! Keep all the messages and emails so they can be traced. You will have to contact whoever your phone carrier is to regain control of your account. They can find your banking details from this access to your phone account.
Usually they have the phones delivered to someone else. This is another part of the scam I was told by my phone carrier.

They are contacting me via email from a "discount-promotion.net" address.
Hey, If we could get 40% off for 2 years that would be sweet! They even somehow sent me a text notification even though I didn't give them my cell #!

THE 40% BELL DISCOUNT SCAM! - I had a call from (+1613-XXX-0350 on Jan 20, 2024) a person claiming to be from Bell promotions offering a discount of 40% with no specified time because "(1) they're losing customers; (2) people are having difficulty paying bills; and (3) they want to retain my services". They asked if I wanted it. I said "Yes". Then they asked for my email to confirm and validate my information for the discount. DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM! ... I asked "how do I know it's Bell?" and everything fell apart. They said they would "confirm its Bell after getting my email and would provide me their employee ID number and confirm in an email response." ... Once I cast doubt, they increased pressure to get my email. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR EMAIL. ... Bell can confirm your email without asking you for it. ... THIS IS A PHISHING SCAM! THEY'RE TRYING TO TURN YOU INTO A MORE RELIABLE TARGET. .... Just laugh, hang up, and enjoy your day! ... I hope this helps some one.
