Hi.
There's a plan I'm considering subscribing to and it comes with Unlimited Canada-wide calling.
As I regularly make phone calls overseas for work but not so frequently as to subscribe to 500 international minutes, I'm thinking about adding International long distance save to my plan.
I call US, too but for some reason I cannot find the rate for US on the calling rate chart.
Will I be able to call US cheaper if I subscribe to International long distance saver? If so, what is the rate??
Thank you.

Hi, I have the same question as @Kaz81  - I can't see the US rate posted on this list: https://www.bell.ca/Styles/all_languages/all_regions/pdf/International_LD_Rates_Dec%20_2020_English....

What is the US rate please if I subscribe to the International long distance saver?

This still does not state what the price to call the US from Canada is.  Without a plan, it is $ 0.75/minute (unless otherwise noted).  But by paying for the International Long Distance Saver, what is the price we would be charged for US calls?  I do not want to pay $ 8.00/month and be charged the same.

Thank you.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Please refer to your rate plan on MyBell. Select > your Mobility service on My services. Select  > Add or remove add-ons. Everything you require will be on this page. Your current plan details are on the top of the page including your current Canada to US LD rate per minute.

Further down the page, you can choose Add or remove add-ons. Select > Long distance tab. The International Long Distance Saver is listed. It is $8.00/mo. If you select this Add-on, your savings would be $0.05 /min. for LD calls to the U.S.

For example, if your current plan is .75 Canada to US LD, and you subscribe to the International Long Distance Saver, your rate/min. is reduced to $0.70/minute

If you wish to make any changes, just follow the on-screen prompts.

Take care.

Thanks for the explanation @WelshTerrier. If that is true ($0.75 goes to $0.70) that is a terrible plan for casual US callers. Not everyone wants to by a $27per month US calling plan, it would be helpful if Bell offered something more attractive to periodic users...Im sure I don't need to tell you how low per minute charges on other providers...espacially to the US.

Thank you for the reply. Keep in mind that the savings I mentioned are for the U.S. only.

You can call over 200 countries around the world, starting at a minimum savings of $0.05/min. Savings per minute will vary depending on the country you are calling internationally.

Thanks WelshTerrior, unfortunately that’s exactly my point. You can call Bangladesh, American Samoa and Spain (among dozens others) for less than $0.10 and it costs $0.70 to call our neighbours in the south who are likely connected directly to our wired networks.
it’s really unbelievable.

Thank you for your comment. Those rates are negotiated and charged by local providers. Bell has little control over that, unfortunately. And as Bell is a for profit company, along with other telecom providers, this is where money is made.
