For anyone that does not want to hear opinion, call Bell support, tell them to DE-activate any roaming services with a note to never re-activated them without your authorization.
Welsh Terrier - I just want to say that whatever I type below I am not angry or upset at your post.I am simply responding to it with my own opinion.
I DO disagree with Bells policy on Roaming Better activation/deactivation and that's what the below reply is about.
---------------------
Why should I have to call Bell in order to UN-subscribe from a service I did not subscribe to?
Bell did this to my account and I can tell you why I know that.
I am 250KM from any international border, have not left my home city since 2 years before I received this phone.
There is zero possibility I sent in a OK or YES reply to a text to sign up for better roaming.
I did not ask for it nor did I even know it was an option-Bell did not tell me this service even existed they just willy nilly applied it to my account and HAD I been a traveller my first indication of this would have been god knows how much more money charged to a monthly bill.
Scenario: Bell activates better roaming on my service plan but does not advise me it has done so
I, not knowing I have this "automatic roaming activated on my plan now" go to India for a month and do not use my cell phone while I am there.
I come back and have an extra (15 per day x 30) $450 on my monthly bill for "roaming fees" . I tell Bell I did not know that service was on my plan and do not want to pay, they say too bad, send me to collections=credit rating ruined OR I know I can't win so pay the $450 and call it a rip off.
OK so lets compare that scenario to a mechanic.
You bring the car to your mechanic and say I want new tires put on my car.
When you return you've been charged for new tires and new brakes.
When questioning the mechanic he/she tells you, I sign you up for our new maintenance service and you needed brakes, pay up or go to collections.
Is this OK? Because that is EXACTLY what Bell has done to it's customers.
I regret signing up for the Bell service now. I should have waited for Telus to come out with a similar plan.
I was with Telus for 14 years and this . NEVER happened.
