Fibe TV - TV stays on and after a few seconds forces the receiver to turn back on.

Our Fibe TV ran the upgrade today, and now the TV will never shut off.  Using the power button on the Fibe Remote will power off the receiver for a few seconds, but the television stays on and after a few seconds forces the receiver to turn back on.

Have rebooted Fibe a few times, have reset and re-paired the remote.

Thank you. Is the HDMI cable plugged into the HDMI eARC/ARC port (usually port #3 on Sony TVs)? Also go into your receiver's Settings menu to determine if there is a setting to allow the receiver to turn your TV off.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

As a starting point, you mentioned that your Bell TV box remote does not fully control your Samsung TV power on / off, volume + / - & mute on your Samsung TV. It is powering off the Bell TV box, but it is not powering off the Samsung TV. This suggests to me that your Bell TV box remote is not programmed with the correct Samsung remote control code.

If your Bell remote cannot perform all of these functions, then you will need to factory reset your Bell remote and select another Samsung remote code that does perform all of these functions. This task in itself can be somewhat time consuming as Samsung has an extensive list of remote-control codes.

Did you also use the Samsung Device Connection Manager to connect your Bell Fibe TV box to your TV? If not, please do so. Unplug your Bell TV box from the TV HDMI eARC port. Turn your TV off / on & plug your Bell TV HDMI cable back in to the eARC HDMI port on your TV. Please refer to support documentation that is included on your TV for specific instructions.

Let us know.

Take care.

Thank you for your question. Try shutting the TV off with its remote and then turning the Fibe receiver on with its remote. Your TV should turn on in a few seconds. When everything stabilizes, shut the Fibe receiver off with the Fibe remote. The TV should shut off as well. Let us know if that works.

Hello - I followed the steps as you suggested, but no change - the television stays on and after a few seconds the Fibe receiver turns itself back on.

For reference, a Sony Bravia 4K UR3 running Android OS 10

Perfect! I have a Sony Bravia TV myself and I discovered that little trick a while back. Well done!

This did not work for me. It all began when Fibe forced an update.

Really frustrating.

Hi there @Stocklead
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
Are you able to share which receiver model you have?
Have you tried factory resetting your receiver?
Looking forward to hearing back.

Hi @BellNick,

I chatted with a Bell support person to help me through this. They determined it was a faulty Bell unit and are mailing me a new one. I did not try the factory reset. That is my last resort, I will update my situation after I get my receiver.

To be honest, the original fix stopped working on my Fibe unit attached to my Sony Bravia . .  . and yet my other 2 units work just fine with their TVs.  To check if it was the Bell box, I swapped the Sony box with another one. . . . and the problem stays with the Sony Bravia, not the Fibe box.

I have just learned to live with the Bell system, one that I have to try 3 or 4 times to shut off the TV.  Maybe someday Bell will figure out that this is a problem and offer a fix, but it is not this day

After receiving a replacement unit and doing a factory reset to the Sony, the problem still exists.
Thanks for your input.

My Bell TV remote works fine until I turn off the TV. Once I turn off tv, a white circle shows on black screen and Samsung remote turns it on again. I then need to turn off Samsung remote.
