Jittery picture on 6131 Satellite Receiver

I have been experiencing a jittery picture on two 6131 receivers. It's most noticeable watching TSN football games or tennis.  I've adjusted my dish and I have a 92% signal on satellite 91 and transponder 13.  I also have a 9241 receiver and the picture is normal on it so it seems to be a problem specific to the 6131 receivers.  In the spring I had a similar problem with the 9241 where the temporary fix was to tune to the CPAC channel 512 and then back to the station you were watching and the jittering would go away.  That temporary fix has no affect on the 6131 receiver.

Hi there @Birel
Thank you for your post.
We've inquired with our support team regarding this and they were able to reproduce the issue on the 6131, 6141, 9242 and are investigating. Once we have further information we will update the thread.

Bell has already acknowledged:
"We've inquired with our support team regarding this and they were able to reproduce the issue on the 6131, 6141, 9242 and are investigating. Once we have further information we will update the thread."
So I am doubtful it is related to signal issues at the user's end.

I commented in that thread and there was nothing useful in that thread for the problem.  As mentioned in my original post it looks like a problem specific to the 6131 receiver so I started a new thread for it.

I have two Bell 6131 receivers.  Very recently I started experiencing "video stutter" on TSN1HD - 400, 850 and 1400.  I haven't tried every channel, but I am not seeing this issue on any of the stations I have tried.  By "video stutter", its like its dropping frames....then smooth....then dropping frames  I have ensured my dish alignment is good and all transponders are 93% or higher. I also hard reset the 6131 and also performed did a factory reset.  I also tried the "tune to 521" trick.  Nothing has resolved the issue.  Software version is V308RQDD-N and Boot Strap version is 1532RQDD

I too am having the same issues with my 6131 AND my 9242.  TSN (1400) is jittery. I have also found Global has issues.  I too have I have ensured my dish alignment is good and all transponders are 93% or higher.  My 6400 is working fine.

As I reported in another thread, my 6141 is having the same issue as reported in this thread with tsn 1400.   Signal strength on nimitz 91 on most of the transponders is 100% with a few at 98.  My 9242 is having pixelating issues with 1400 also.   That's how I started down this path as I was checking my other receivers and found my 6141 had issues.   My 9241 works OK (I haven't looked at every channel) which is strange because it exhibited the earlier issue that Bell spun out a firmware update for stuttering channels.

ADDED:   I moved my 6141 to where the 9241 (which does not have the tsn1400 issue) is and both tvs connected to these areas are older sonys.   The 6141 still exhibits the same issue with tsn1400 (stutter / lack of smooth motion).   Maybe there is issues with the channel versus the EDID extension data / monitor video data capabilities contained there in which does contain some timing data that the source relies on to create a "valid picture".

I have been Installing and servicing Bell TV and Shaw Direct (now Rogers TV) since 2002. This is what I think is going on. It's just an opinion based on years of experience. Recently, Shaw Direct had two out of three satellites fail. They had to change the video compression to allow all their programming to operate from  one satellite. Shaw had to decommission THOUSANDS of working receivers which could not decode the new compression. Now, only two models working Shaw; the 800 and 830PVR. Recently, Bell began moving all their channels to the 91 satellite. I think the only way they could have done that is by changing the video compression. And now, we are seeing video issuesbwith certain model receivers (6131, 6141, 9241). Someone on here has stated their 6400 receiver is working fine. I have four 6131's and all 4 have this jittery picture. If Bell cannot fix the problem, maybe we will all be receiving a free upgrade to 6400 receivers.

"If Bell cannot fix the problem, maybe we will all be receiving a free upgrade to 6400 receivers."

Maybe for equipment renters but I doubt equipment owners would get anything more than a "discount offer on a purchase".   Anyway, I think its only on a few channels which likely means some adjustment to the compression "elements / data" characteristics for those channels.... transition "pain".   Just a guess.

"If Bell cannot fix the problem, maybe we will all be receiving a free upgrade to 6400 receivers."

That would be the most reasonable. If Bell would ask customers to purchase new equipment, with all the streaming options out there, they will risk losing some of their long-time satellite customers.

That would be nice . If you have receiver like that for people . I hope that things get fixed . Noticed. Casue there recivers don’t have Disney plus . So they could put it on there recent ones . Agree upgrade sat . I asked  question about it .

My 6131 does the same, unwatchable

Might need a new one . The 9500 is a good one . Haven’t had problems . It has built in wi-fi . Will say
