VIP7802 / Streamer - Apple TV App

I tried to install the Apple TV app on the Bell Streamer form Google Play Store, but it reports that the Apple TV app is not compatible with the device (Bell Streamer).

Has anyone been able to install the Apple TV app on their Bell Streamer?   I can install the Apple TV app on my Chromecast with Google TV.   Disappointed that the Bell Streamer is not a normal Google TV box like it claims to be.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Unfortunately, you can't download Apple TV on the Bell VIP7802. The VIP7802 currently runs on Android TV 10 which does not support Apple TV.
Apple TV+ is not available on the VIP7802. Do you have a Smart TV or an additional input for an external HDMI streaming device? If so, Apple TV+ is available on most Smart TV’s as an app & can be installed using many streaming devices.. E.g. Samsung,  Lg, Roku, Sony, Fire TV, etc.

You can also stream Apple TV+ by logging in using any web browser.

Take care.

Good news (and maybe bad, depending on which thread you read)

IF you have a 7802 with the new Fibe TV interface, you can run Apple TV. (With the interface update, the box updates to Android 11)

Thanks to Welsh Terrier and New Guy but the advice seems contradictory.

To elaborate, I have available HDMI inputs on my AV processor and could certainly add a Roku box. So I'm trying to figure two things:

  1. Would it be more or less expensive, or about the same cost, to swap my VIP 5662 Fibe set-top box for the VIP 7802?
  2. What is the "new" Fibe TV interface? Would a 7802 set-top box purchased/rented now come with Android 11?

Hi there @SalsaCycle
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
@WelshTerrier & @NewGuy are both correct, based on the firmware version you would have.
1. We can't speak to if it's more / less expensive or the same cost as it depends in you own your receiver, are renting the receiver, receiving a promotional rate based on your services, etc.. But, the VIP7802 is $18.00/month. The receiver itself is $8.00/month and the cloud PVR is $10.00/month. If you add additional receivers, they are $8.00/month.
2. The new Fibe TV interface on the VIP7802 is how our Fibe TV app looks and functions. Not all VIP7802's come with the newest firmware as it's an account based thing, although all accounts with VIP7802 receivers will receive the update at some point.

would like to get apple tv on bell under options like crave? streaming  on Roku stick takes forever to load? Will bell ever offer Apple tv with your own subscription to it?

Good Day.

Thank you for posting your question. You can find and download the Apple TV app from the Google Play Store. on the VIP 7802 Bell Fibe TV Box as long as your box has the new Fibe TV interface.

Information such as this is generally not shared by Bell on the community forum. I cannot say that it will never happen. It is highly unlikely that it will occur.

Just my opinion only.

Take care.
