I just had Bell Fibe 1Gb internet and Fibe Tv with the new 4K Cloud PVR installed.
I notice when you boot or reboot the Fibe box, the Dolby Vision icon will display on my LG OLED tv. If I check the video display info on my Denon receiver it indicates it is receiving a Dolby Vision signal from the Fibe Tv box. This is for every channel and causes the picture to look very contrasty due to Dolby Vision being on all the time.
I can't find a setting to turn of or control HDR settings. I have an Nividia Shield 2019 model and there are options on it to disable HDR settings. This doesn't happen when I use the Fibe TV app on the Shield.
Please advise as this will potentially over time damage an OLED tv with burn in.
Thanks.

That’s weird. What’s the tv’s model and any error code or message? You can also try to post on Reddit if the tech has no clue. Users in this forum are mostly elder or satellite subscribers.

Hello everyone,
The issue appears to stem from either the TV or AVR (audio video receiver) using Dolby Vision and the 7802 receiver using HDR, and how they conflict.
To remedy, you can try one of the following:
- Turn off Dolby Vision on your TV or AVR
- Connect your 7802 receiver directly to your TV and use an optical cord for the audio
My personal set up is: 7802 connected to TV via HDMI and optical cord from my sound bar/AVR to the TV

Just got the VIP7802 too, and having this same issue. Terrible support from Bell. This box seems to have a lot of problems. Agree with your points OP, I'm not turning off Dolby Vision on my TV, thereby disabling it for all sources, when it's only Bell's hardware that has this problem!

I gave up on this new box. Huge disappointment.
Bought the new AppleTV 4K that just came out, and I just watch through the bell fibe app. Better picture quality too and no issues with HDR.

Trouble with the OTT Bell Fibe app is that there's no 4K and no Surround Sound...stereo only. If Bell don't fix these issues too soon then I'll be cancelling my service though.

Not missing much here? 4K sports once in a blue moon? What a yawn.
Everything else Bell offers in 4K is on the Crave app anyway, which has 4K on AppleTV.
Bell 4K offerings are pretty slim overall.

Actually 4K might be coming to the App soon. This month the Bell Streamer has added “Ultimate (up to 4k)” option under streaming settings, using about 7.2GB/h.
What channels have you checked so far for surround sound? Is it missing even if watching on the dvr?

This would be great. I wish the encoding would just be improved in general. We have soooo much bandwidth and these apps still have streaming artifacts. Fingers crossed for an update soon. The FibeTV app is slowly getting better and better.

Actually TV1, Stingray Naturescope/Ambiance and Love Nature also have 4K content on demand without extra cost. You can swap the latter two within a la carte. TV1 is already included in the starter.
But we can petition upgrading their feeds to 4K too, and add Stingray Festival, Now, xite and Travelxp.

Me too. It’s very easy to google complaints about Bell’s pic quality. I remember after my first Bell installation with ALT TV in 2020, the online agent tried to tell me the resolution was always 1080P despite of three different data usage estimations in the settings lol
There has been more improvement to the App for the past few months. Besides the new layout and expiry reminder on the App, meanwhile the Steamer has changed the App to a similar style of the version on Apple TV box, added more controlling options on the video progress bar, and allows RESTART on current airing programs if the channels allow traditional Restart (HOWEVER, it cannot pause, rewind or FF though unless return to the time you tuned in).
And CBC News starts to allow 30h Restart just like all other Canadian English news channels and CNN main feed (wish CNNi be the same with restart & HD).

Interesting. I don't have a streamer, but my Fire TV only shows Standard/Good/Better/Best under the Streaming Quality. It does, however, now have a Surround Sound option.
My Apple TV in the other room has Standard/Good/Better/Best streaming options, but no Surround Sound.

Just installed 3 7802 receivers last week and I cannot get even a good 1080p image on my 4K Samsung TV.
The image is heavily pixelated as if I was watching a 320p upscaled to 1080p and on top of it, after each ad during any recording, the sound goes up or down and we have to adjust it every time the show returns.
A tech came here today and after 4 hours he couldn`t fix the problem, he said that it was my TV which couldn`t adjust to the signal. I told him that the problem appears on all the TVs where the receivers are connected (I have 3) and btw I still have the receivers of the previous provider and I can tell you that the image is amazing compared to this android tv box.
Since the equipment is rented, I am wondering if I could get the previous 4K receivers which worked great. Otherwise I think I will cancel the TV portion and install an IPTV box from another provider if I can`t fix the issue.

It’s probably compatibility-related. I have a late 2014 (according to review site. instruction paper is 2015 though) 1080P Samsung and it works fine with both legacy dvr & Bell streamer. How old is your 4K TV? What previous box do you have?
But Black Friday and Cyber Monday are coming lol
