I am away from my home phone for a while. I tried to set up call forwarding before I left but I just kept getting a fast busy. I kept rereading the "instructions" on bell.ca and they neglect to mention that you have to add the service to your account before forwarding. (I just figured Bell would bill me once I turned it on.)
My question: Is there a way for me to forward my home number remotely?
If I can't, can a Bell tech support person do it?

Hey @adambr3. Welcome to the Bell community 🙂
Unfortunately you cannot turn on Call Forwarding remotely. The service needs to be activated from the home phone line.
If you already have the feature on your home phone line and are at home, you can easily turn on Call Forwarding. Simply dial *72, listen for 3 beeps and a dial tone, then enter the number you want to forward calls to.

Thank you for responding. Yes, I called tech support earlier this week to ask about remote activation. After 35 minutes and speaking to two different people, neither of whom knew the answer, they finally decided this was not possible. I had a friend go over to the house today and do it for me. It would be nice if Bell's instructions actually mentioned that you have to subscribe to a separate monthly add-on before trying to activate it. Maybe that's obvious to everyone else, but it never occurred to me.

I don't have home phone anymore so can't test this out but I used to enable the call forwarding remotely all the time (if you have that feature enabled on your account).
Call yourself from another phone and when your voicemail picks up press the star key. It should ask you for your password, at that point you would need to listen to the prompts for the various options.
Hopefully that works for you.

Thanks, but I don't subscribe to Call Answer. (Phone is equipped with an answering function that works fine.) That does make sense though. Thanks for responding.

Has Bell enabled this through their app or bell.ca yet?
$9 a month for call forwarding that you can only turn on or off from a phone connected to the landline seems archaic to me.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to do this.

I know this is an old thread but here goes. I have call forward as part of my package but never needed it until now. I am now away from home for an extended period. From my understanding the OP did not have the call forwarding option but in my case I do have call forwarding as part of my home phone package. Since I do have call forwarding is it possible to to set it up remotely? Thanks

My copper landline suddenly, unexpectedly has been decommissioned. Is there a way to forward calls to the landline number to a cell number temporarily until the fibre optic connection is completed?

Thanks for your question. Call Forwarding can’t be done remotely, to the best of my knowledge. Bell staff may be able to make changes, but if both lines are mot in service, what you ask may not work.

Good Day.
I am just following up with you this morning. Has your Bell Home phone service been restored & converted from fibre to copper? If not, have you contacted Bell Tech Support & been advised on a restoral date?
Call Forwarding cannot be turned on remotely. The service needs to be activated from the home phone line. If you already have this feature on your home phone line and you are at home, you can turn on Call Forwarding. Simply dial *72, listen for 3 beeps and a dial tone, then enter the number you want to forward calls to.
Please check out this article on How to add and use Bell Home phone Call Forwarding
If your service is still not working, please call Bell Home phone tech support at: 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or dial #611 from any Bell mobile device.
Take care
