Thank you for your question. Bell will terminate your copper land line at the demarcation point or home entrance when they install fibre service to your home. They will not remove the copper line, buried or aerial, back to the terminal post. As they own the line and unless your line has been replaced by fibre, you can leave it alone.

A couple years ago a contractor for bell played fibrotic in my community.
yesterday I noticed one of these fiber lines that was layer through a cut (which was patched) across my sidewalk has come back to the surface and is now become a tripping hazard.
my elderly father must step over it with his walker every time he (and I) leave or enter the house.
whom do I talk to about this?
as it gets worse I’m afraid one of us will trip on it.
I wish I could post a picture of it here
thank you for any help in whom to contact about this issue

Thanks for your question. The same thing happened on my street. A sidewalk snowplow took out a lot of fibre You should call Bell at 1 866 310-BELL (2355) and report it. Bell will have a contractor repair the fibre.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.
Thank you for posting your question. The wires that are exposed on the ground, is this as a result of new installation or a temporary repair to restore your service?
At Bell, this is a very busy time of the year with the change in weather from winter to spring. As the weather improves, it is now time for Bell or one of its contractors, to bury what has been placed on the ground temporarily.
Have you reached out to Bell Customer Service & explained your issue to them in detail? If not, then please call Bell Repair service & explain that the temporary repair or new fibre cable is laying exposed on the ground & needs to be properly buried before it is damaged. The representative should provide you with an approximate date for this work to be completed.
Bell Wire & Cable Repair - Please call: 611 or 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or dial #611 from any Bell mobile device.
For Property damage or Bell contractor restoration issues call: 1-800-268-4213. Obtain a ticket number from the service representative. This will be passed on to the contractor for cleanup. You should be given a completion date & time.
Take care.

We recently bought a house. Across the back of the property, along the ground, near a fence is a wire marked "Bell". It could easily be cut by our lawn mower, or weed trimmer or any other accident. I can't imagine that it is normal to have a Bell line just running along the ground surface. Likely it was supposed to be buried at some point but it got missed (at another property we had a Fibe line along the ground for a while until they came back to bury it).
What department do I call to have this addressed?

Ask them to send out a technician to verify if it is a working service or an abandoned wire that was laying there unnoticed & just needs to be removed.

Hello, new to this, about 1 yr ago we finally had Fibre connection to our home. Hugh ordeal. So a temp line was hung onto Hydro 1 poles. After atleast 6 Bell technicians and 3 pairs of Ledcor technicians my line is half buried. I put conduit on my property and the rest into a culvert and torpedo under neighbour's driveway
I'm sure there's a joke in there.
How many ______ to bury a wire. 😄.
So I ask is it a no no to hang wire on Hydro 1 poles? And now what?
Another call has been placed to the dig dig department of bell and now a 7th bell technician is coming out to open a new work order. Stay tuned.👍👍👍👍

Thank you for your question. In some areas, Bell fibre is run pole to pole, or as an aerial run. Definitely not a no no. The only caution I see is that Bell would likely have to have a neighbour's consent to run fibre under their driveway. If Bell ran the fibre, then they have consent. If you did it, they could have an issue.

I have a bell line (several coiled together) that has fallen in our rear lane. 310 Bell couldn’t help unless I could confirm it is a Bell line (I’m 99% certain) I’ve been going in circles and have now given up. Disappointed.

It's a good safety measure to never touch any downed lines, even if they look to be without power.
If they fell down from a utility pole contact your local PUC.

Good Day.
I wish there was something further I could do for you. We do not have access to your account & home phone service records.
Are you able to reach Bell repair using one of your neighbours or friends' phone lines? Can you email a family member and ask them to report the problem for you?
If not, then you can reach Bell Repair to report your outside wire is down through the Bell website or by using their online chat service.
Open this weblink. At the top of the page, select > Home phone: Chat live. This will open up a Bell Support Chat conversation window.
Contact Bell | Bell Mobility, Internet, TV and Home phone | Bell Canada
Take care.

My Neighbors tree has fallen on a large bell line. The tree is 70 ft tall and has been held by the Bell line for 7 days+.
my neighbor says they need permission from Bell to cut the tree. Is this correct?
And if it is correct - how long does it take to get permission?
it is hanging over 3 yards, backyard sheds, children’s swing sets etc. Everyone wants it cut asap as it’s dangerous.

Call 611 and tell them about the hazard. Or call your municipality and tell them of the danger. The property owner should also check with their insurer. Tree removal is not a job for a couple of backyard guys and a chain saw.
