I am in the same boat as those in the forum and completely agree.  If/when I can get an answer regarding what I am deficient in, I will be asking where/how the information is stored.

Regarding the messaging from Bell, if it turns out that this was a general blast to all email users and not sent to those individuals whose operating system/browser does not meet minimum requirements, Bell needs to seriously consider how they send out communications to their users.

I think we all realize it will work. The real problem is they sent a message out that is seriously stressing our older relatives. They trust the communication from Bell. And Bell is misleading them.  They need to understand many senior citizens often don’t understand these things and try as we might unless we can clearly show them that their email is going to work they believe something is wrong with their computers.

This is a massive failure on Bell’s part

I just got off the phone with a Bell manager and he has determined that the origin or this communication is most likely the vendor that oversees the Bell cloud (either for the email portion or the whole cloud).  He currently does not know how to get into contact with the vendor to get more information regarding the messaging.  He is going to bring this up to his manager during a meeting with him this week to see if there are any internal avenues that can be taken to get clarification/information on the communication.  I reminded him that even though this communication was distributed by a vendor, Bell is accountable as the vendor is working under contract for Bell and an answer should be forthcoming from Bell.  He will get back to me after his meeting with his boss and either have an answer or tell me how I can proceed...

Good. Someone is getting somewhere. Thanks for your efforts.  It’s unfortunate Bell can’t address this. The fact that no one is looking at these threads and chiming in is disappointing

I did mention that there was discussion on the forum for this particular email communication and that I was surprised that no one from Bell had responded. He didn't have much to say and I wonder if he is not really aware of the forum.  Regardless, this particular manager is true to his word.  He has gotten back to me in a timely fashion.  He seems to take customer service seriously.  Everyone else has thrown up their hands and passed the matter on to someone else.  I will admit that I don't believe that the individuals that I have talked to are in the correct department for this particular issue.  However, they don't know where it belongs....therefore the passing around.  This manager has taken it on and hopefully he can get somewhere....I eagerly await his call.

So why did Bell send this to EVERYONE stating that THEIR system was out of date?  Typical Bell.

Hello everyone and thank you for sharing your feedback.

Those who received an email communication were identified as having accessed their Bell email from one or more devices that did not meet minimum system requirements coming into effect on April 30th, 2024. However, Bell cannot identify the exact email client, web browser, operating system or device that was used.

If your device(s), web browser and/or operating system(s) meet or exceed minimum system requirements or if you have since updated your device(s), web browser and/or operating system(s); no further action is required your part.

Please be advised, Customer Care cannot provide instructions on how to update various email clients, operating systems or browsers.  Alternatively, you can check out Bell Tech ExpertOpens in a new tab or window should you need assistance updating your computer’s operating system and/or browser.

So how can you state that i used "Bell email from one or more devices that did not meet minimum system requirements". Then you claim that bell "Bell cannot identify the exact email client, web browser, operating system or device that was used."

That doesn't make any sense

I recently received an EMail from someone claiming to represent Bell asking me to update my browser through them.  The post read

Dear customer,

Our records indicate that you are accessing your Bell email from a device with an older browser or operating system, which doesn’t support current security protocols. Please note that in order to continue sending and receiving emails from your Bell address, your device will have to meet minimum system requirements. Click below to Update Email

Was this Bell or is it attempt to cause me grief?

The key is the word "exact". They can identify based on the security protocol that you tried to access your e-mail account using an outdated security protocol. However, they cannot determine what e-mail client and version of client you used.
