Hi,
I just had my Home Hub 3000 upgraded to a Giga Hub and we went from 1Gbs to 1.5Gbs.
Since we had the Giga Hub installed I've had issues with games on my PS5 beening extremely laggy. Fortnite and Pubg in particular. The speed is not an issue as we're getting above 100+ Mbps on the wifi. We never had issues using the wifi with the Home hub 3000. I now have it connected via ethernet cable and am getting speeds over 400 Mbps but am still getting the same issue with the lag and packet loss in the games.
I've rebooted everything multiple times and cleaned out the hard drive on the PS5 but that hasn't worked either.
Has anyone out there had a similar problem and solution?
Thanks!

Are you using a Cat6 network cord? What is the name and model of the router?

What speed is reported by the modem speed test. Have you run the virtual repair tool to determine if any issues are detected?

Thank you for your concern. How far is your PS5 from the Giga Hub? Is the speed test on your phone conducted close to the PS5? Have you tried connecting the modem to your PS5 with a Cat6 network cable? Was there any difference?

Anyone get this issue resolved yet, Iv been going at it with bell for 2 days now they are aware that it’s the modem and they say the gigahub will resolve the issue. They put me on a guest Wi-Fi but it’s still dropped down to about 97MB per second, I just got the PS5 pro and it started happening but with my PS5 it worked flawlessly around 900mb download speed I’m about to go get a router to try it but not sure. When I check in game call of duty my nat type is moderate but PS5 connection is type 2 if anyone has any suggestions or solve the issue please

Hi there @Ya-ManN
Welcome to the Bell Community 🙂
Which modem do you have now? Can you test a direct Ethernet connection from your Ps5 Pro to the modem to see if there is an improvement?

Thank you for your concern. Have you attempted a wired connection with the Giga Hub?

should have the gigahub modem in 2 days and i will try it out wired connection, something with bells modem is blocking the PS5 Pro, if i reset the modem on wired connection i get around 900mbs then 15-20 seconds another speed test shows 47mbs wired connection and downloads/gaming is bad, but if you put it on a guest wifi it works like it should for a wireless connection, i see a lot of people having this issue with only bell modems i have gamer friends with videotron and virgin no issues at all.

Thank you for your comments. While the modem may be an apparent obvious issue, gaming connectivity is more complex. Ping time is a key factor over which a user has no control. Focussing only on speed is also a rabbit hole. The fastest speed is no guarantee of a good gaming experience. Wireless connectivity is, by design, a poorer quality if connection for gaming, increasing lag. My point is that getting the most out of your gaming system is a process. It doesn’t happen easily at times. We can offer suggestions, but the solution is truly individual. .

I fixed this issue by adding a second router (tp link) between my PS5 and the bell modem, wired speed are back at 900Mbps as they should be instead of the 47Mbps I was getting by connecting directly to the bell modem. I did some network sniffing with wireshark on both setup (with and without additional router) and could not find the source of the problem unfortunately. I gave up troubleshooting this issue.

I can’t quite get my head around that but why argue with success? Thanks for getting back to us.

good to know a router is an option, I received my gighub and changed it and also changed the wire to cat6 now I’m getting download speeds of around 950mb but upload speeds seem to be low around 200mbs, better then before. Next thing I try is the router like you said

Me neither, I thought I could find something obvious with wireshark but in vain. I did the tests multiple times and always similar results, very low transfer rate when connected directly (wired) to the Bell router, very high and stable transfer rate when I connect to the tp link router that is then connected to the Bell router. I was having a stable rate transfer using the wifi "guest" network as well since it was the only device on it. If I connect the PS5 to the private wifi network, then all my wirelesss devices in the house were losing internet connection randomly while the PS5 was downloading anything. This is seriously a mind-blowing issue and I work as a telecom engineer so I know a bit about networking stuff but I gave up at some point on this specific issue since I have a workaround in place.
