Incorrect number showing up when texting

Why is my phone number showing up incorrectly for the recipients of my texts and how do I change it?  I just joined Bell a week ago, received a temporary phone number, and got my existing phone number ported over. Now when a new person receives a text from me it shows that it is still coming from my temporary phone number that shouldn't exist anymore.

I am having the same issue

I just received my new iPhone from Bell today. I received a temporary phone number and requested to transfer my number from a previous service provider to Bell. I followed all the instructions, however when I text, the receivers of the text get the texts from my temporary number and not the one I requested be transferred to Bell. Wondering why this is happening? Under Settings>phone my number is showing up as the temporary number as well.

Experiencing the same issue and was in hold for an account specialist for almost 2 hrs before being disconnected!!!!🤬🤬🤬 Will try Fharris steps and see if that fixes.... Noticed it was occurring on RCS chats also

Thanks! Cleared cache and storage, turned off RCS chat and restarted. Message settings asked me to verify my phone number when I turned RCS back on after restart and it worked! My number verified and the 'lock' symbol next to my RCS chat status in my message chats disappeared. My texts coming thru under my number on my saved contacts side now!

Fharris has some good steps to try in his post. I wasn't able to clear the carrier cache but skipping that step still worked for me. If cleared properly and restarted, you should be asked to enter your cell so it can be verified when you turn on RCS messaging function in the Message system settings. If you skip this step or number can't be verified, your RCS texts will show as coming from another number.

That is also happening to me. Even when I send texts, the odd times people will get a text from the temporary number that is non existent. Or when I FaceTime someone sometimes it will FaceTime them with the temporary phone number.

For me it was in my settings for RCS texts, it had the temporary number listed and I was able to edit it so the recipient saw the number I had. 

This is exactly what is happening to me. I’ve tried to change the settings > phone to the number I switched over to bell but it keeps going back to the temporary phone number. Even if I FaceTime someone, sometimes the recipient would get a FaceTime call from the temporary phone number. I don’t know how to change it on iPhone

I transfered my line from Public Mobile a little while ago. Before that happened, I received a SIM from Bell with a temporary number. Once that was in my phone, I requested the number transfer to replace the temp number on the SIM. 

People are still receiving my messages (RCS) identified by the temporary number and not my number. However the SIM card utility on my phone shows it is using the right nuumber and calls are also showing the right number....

what gives?
