Incorrect number showing up when texting

Why is my phone number showing up incorrectly for the recipients of my texts and how do I change it?  I just joined Bell a week ago, received a temporary phone number, and got my existing phone number ported over. Now when a new person receives a text from me it shows that it is still coming from my temporary phone number that shouldn't exist anymore.

This is happening to my husband and me as well

We recently moved to Bell a couple of days ago and our texts are going out with the temporary number but our phone numbers were transferred over, please help

Having the exact same problem, as well my USA calls are frequently dropped, or don't work at all.  Tried manually to choose the network as outlined in the FAQs but still huge network problems with the calling and texting.

So after a 43 minute call with a lovely tech support lady, she reset at her end, I turned my messages off then on and suddenly the number changes to the one I have.  Side note, I tried to have this fixed at a BELL store near me and they were unable to help, but in our conversation he did mention it is a very very common problem when porting over your number over the phone.  Good luck to everyone else, hope this helps.

I'm having the same issue with new cell plan.

Happens inconsistently.

I was able to solve this without calling Bell.

I have a Google pixel, and the steps are roughly the same for Android users.
You turn off RCS chat in message settings
Then go to settings, go Apps, all apps
Go to carrier services and go to storage and cache and clear it
Then go back to app listing, find messages and clear cache
Restart phone
Go to messages and turn RCS back on

I just moved from Telus to Bell and I transferred my number over and it sent the whole text from Telus and it said completed successfully. However, my Bell “temporary” number didn’t update to the number I’ve been using. But the weirder part is that my ‘MyBell’ account says that’s it been updated.

I’ve sent messages to my friends and they are saying it is sending as a new number

Despite following the advice provided, Google message app can not verify my new number for RCS chats and still displays my temporary number.

My SMS messaging is fine.

We wanted to check in and see if you had the chance to call in and speak to Tech Support and have a ticket opened for investigation if need be? Multiple users in this thread have shared that their issue with an incorrect number showing was resolved this way. It may be your next best step. 🙂

Temporary phone number displayed instead of my SIM card number when I send text messages.
