Welcome to the Community and great question.
If the system recognizes the phone number that's leaving you a voicemail and you already have a text conversation started with the caller, the voice file will be automatically merged to the text message conversation. If it doesn't recognize the phone number, the voice file will appear as a new text message in your inbox with a generic phone number used by the service.
On the other hand, you can download the voice file(s) onto your phone directly into a file of your choosing. To do so, you simply need to press on the voice file(s) until a menu appears, and from there select the action to be completed.
