I have a Samsung S23. Issues with overheating and charging. Technician said motherboard needs to be
replaced. Is this going to effect my buy back option at the end of my contract if the numbers don't match up from
the original motherboard?

If Bell replaces the motherboard on your smartphone, it generally will not affect your ability to participate in the Bell SmartPay program. However, the device must still meet the program's criteria for "good working condition."
If you have any doubts about the device's eligibility, contact Bell Mobility customer service or visit a Bell store to confirm.
A device must meet the following requirements to be considered in “good working condition” and be eligible for return:
- The device powers on, charges and navigates properly to the home screen.
- The keyboard and/or touchscreen is responsive and functions properly.
- The device is free from apparent physical damage (e.g., bending, cracks, punctures to any part of the device, including the screen, keyboard or the camera lens).
- There are no missing components (e.g., buttons, keys, SIM/media tray, battery, battery cover).
- All activation/security locks for the device are turned off and no longer linked to your associated cloud account, such as “iCloud Find my iPhone Activation Lock” (for Apple devices) and “Activation Lock Protection” (for Android devices).
- Any PIN/password, facial recognition or fingerprint lock has been removed.

It will affect the buy back option sincerely it’s being refurbished. Each device has a specific serial number in the motherboard and if it doesn’t match up with the one in system the buy back option will not be available.

Good Day & thank you for your input & feedback in your reply.
You are absolutely correct. Each device has a unique serial number. If Bell replaces the motherboard on your smartphone, it generally will not affect your ability to participate in the Bell SmartPay program. However, the device must still meet the program's criteria for "good working condition."
If you have any doubts about the device's eligibility for warranty, then contact Bell Mobility customer service or visit a Bell store to confirm your devices warranty.
The key point in my reply is: "contact Bell before having the work performed by an outside supplier."
